What’s political about it?

Did anyone get upset at this at the time?

But it is not the England flag. They would not get away with adulterating any other country’s flag so why should England put up with it?
Who is 'they'?

Not quite the same. That's incorporating the cross into the shirt design. What Nike has done is change the cross colour so that it is identifiable with their tenure.

Anyway, they can do what they like to it for all I care. There's more important things for us to be discussing, such as where we locate Harry's statue and making sure we get it done before the inevitable trophy has been secured.

I got upset at Scholesy being forced to play left wing to accommodate these clowns, yep.

National flag has been changed to make a statement of inclusivity when other kits haven’t been altered in the same way. Pretty obvious.

I mean, there is just a very basic fact here which is that a flag consists of two elements - the design/pattern, and the colours.
Now if the government imposed a change of the colours of it, that’d be a meaningful talking point for the people invested in such things. But for a sports brand to change the colours of a flag? It simply and quite literally means that it isn’t depicting that flag any more.

No need for any political analysis of it.

Do countries ever change their flags? Wouldn't mind replacing the boring plain red cross with this one if that's allowed?

Think there's a similar backlash in Germany against their new pink kit, which at least has the advantage of being borderline woke and legitimately winding up whatever the German equivalent to Gammons is (schinken?)

Your Lee Anderson's here are now in a place of seeing essentially anything they don't like as woke or virtue signalling. What virtue is this signalling? What is changing the colours of the flag awake to?

Inclusive to who? I am completely baffled by how this is being seen as a political gesture.

No it’s never ever happened in any other country. In France there would be a riot ending in overthrow of the government if the blue in the tricolour was one percentage point lighter than the official Pantone reference

The German gammons must be particularly annoyed that their team has been poo poo for more or less the period of time that it’s been woke.

It’s bad enough here when the England team being nice has coincided with them being quite good actually.

Wait and see what they do. This is just Rainbow by Stealth.

Add violet this time - under the guise of 'purple' being the 1966 training kit colour or some such poppycock. Then come the 2026 World Cup, they will add indigo to the cross, saying some guff like it matches the denim jeans worn by so many England fans. It might take them until 2034 to get their way, but they will if we let them.

They're also kicking off because their kit is switching from adidas to Nike and the actual vice chancellor is calling it out as unpatriotic. So at least it's not just an English phenomenon.

Whining about this sh*t is the real virtue signalling because it's paying lip service to complete fluff issues to deflect from the fact these people have nothing practical to say or do to actually improve people's lives.

I suppose Jesse Owens raising a fist isn’t political to you either.

FWIW, I like the idea behind it, they should have just kept it on the sleeves and left the flag off the shirt. Its a sh*t flag anyway.

No. The real issue is that there are actually people out there who are willing to spend £125 on a tacky f*cking top!

It is completely beyond my comprehension that the National Flag of a Country could be bastardised in such a way and for it to be approved and go into production. What woke, hand wringing, brainwashing took place in that presentation and who was suckered into believing it.

Jesse Owens didn't raise a fist did he? Not that a black athlete winning a gold medal in Nazi Germany is really comparable to a corporate multinational doing a bland tweek of a national flag on a football shirt.

Can you explain how it is woke?

It’s like someone is about to serve you horse dung but as you won’t eat it they start off slowly and offer up monkeys testicles. Nike was testing the water and our flag would eventually have become a brand including rainbows and whatever other colour combination we are celebrating this week.

So it's woke because of a fantasy future you've created in your head? And not actually woke at all?
