One other thing I forgot; ground size, the only comparable successful club is Luton, who have a very slightly ( about 10% ) larger capacity. I have checked all clubs in the Championship: the only genuine small grounds, Rotherham ( 33% larger than Brisbane Rd ), QPR & Plymouth twice as big. Sunderland's ground is 5.5 times bigger than our diminutive ground. Barry Hearn well & truly screwed us! New ground or get used to 3 or 4 tier Football. Oh! & a footballer on Championship wages would have a far higher standard of living at say Blackburn or Huddersfield & their WAGS would come cheaper too.

To be fair to Bazza when we were getting average attendances of c 4,500 not too many of us were flagging up a 9,200 capacity ground might stunt our ambition.Friend or faux wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 1:42 pm One other thing I forgot; ground size, the only comparable successful club is Luton, who have a very slightly ( about 10% ) larger capacity. It was filed under a ‘nice problem to have’.
Still, things have changed and a new ground is an imperative. I note the annual report says they’re making good progress on identifying suitable sites for both a new ground & training facilities. Hockey stadium here we come?
