Wilkinson goes from Scots Prem to L2. Sounds about right - up north its not much better than pub football if you take away the big 2.

That sounds like a very good appointment for them. Probably not good news for Sutton and FGR

He took over in heartbreaking circumstances and steadied the ship significantly. I'd say that's something of note.
Absolutely 100%. I have the greatest respect for the guy stepping into the breach when Justin passed away.

Is it that good an appointment?

After the great success at Lincoln - FA Cup run & Promotion back to EFL & promotion to EFL1, they have not really set the world alight

Huddersfield - sacked after only 10 months
Portsmouth 22 months - finished mid table ( 10th) in their only full season and left with club 12th in Jan 23

Prior to this, they had success at Braintree & Concord Rangers

It seems their success has all come at non league level

It may be unfair to ask, but are they still living on that fantastic spell at Lincoln and unable to repeat anything like it?

I'd like to second that . Ross helped the club get through one of the most difficult times in our history . For that I'll always be grateful to him .

I don't think he should've took it after Fletcher but don't blame him, you have to give it a go. Before Fletcher, 17 games, 6 wins 4 draws, 7 losses, it wasn't bad to be fair, that was dealing with Brill retiring randomly too, new players, wasn't a bad effort

It was awful.

But then he won the 3 games before Fletcher came in and decided he could do the job…..

You might be right Spen, apparently they turned down Bradford for Colchester so perhaps they're sticking to their NL/L2 comfort zone. Be interesting to see.

If they managed to win promotion to EFL1 with Lincoln, then not all their success has come at non league level.

So no, you are wrong.

He also forgot to mention the EFL trophy which Lincoln won in 2018, again not non-league.

It’s weird how a bloke who is a pedantic bore on other peoples posts is so often wrong about basic facts himself. It’s why I have him on “foe”. It’s a shame that I can still see his replies when somebody else quotes him.

As much as it's got to do with anyone else who was participating in this thread only to have you pop up to tell us all, for the 7835th time, that you have him on foe. It's boring.

Another potentially interesting thread about a local rival derailed by boarders sniping at each other.

Perhaps we can talk about who is which alias for the millionth time instead.

3 of those 6 wins came immediately after he announced he was stepping down. Our form improved so much during his "lame duck" period it did make me wonder how much of a dead weight he had been on performances. Of the other 3, one was in the group stage of the trophy no-one cares about, one was the first game after JE's death, when sheer emotion bundled us over the line, and the other resulted in him being dragged off the pitch because someone thought he was a rogue supporter.

There really isn't much to be gained by re-litigating that whole period now, but the most credit he gets from that period is for recognising that he wasn't up to it and stepping down early. More scrutiny should be placed on the person who appointed him in the first place, and then re-appointed him after appointing an even less suitable replacement. TBF at the time, I recall most ordinary Orient fans being pretty gobsmacked when that happened.

I'm not sure Fletcher was an even less suitable replacement, although doubt there was much in it. Fletcher's problem was he had an assistant who, having fluked 3 wins in his last 3 games, had decided he could be a manager after all and was, how shall we say, less than welcoming.

He was less suitable in the sense that he was doomed from the beginning as an outsider who had similarly negligible amounts of experience to call upon. RE did at least have the advantage of being "one of our own". It's Webb that you have to feel for the most, having a superior claim on the role and getting overlooked twice - the second time after being led to believe that he was next in line.

Endlessly posting on the same particular topics and borderline harassing certain people such as spen and CEB despite telling all and sundry I'm ignoring them = perfectly fine, totally normal.

Being pulled up on this = creepy and obsessive.

Gotcha.
