Agree with this thread, lack of pace in LB and RB is being exploited ruthlessly this season. Sweeney was living on the edge in L2 let alone L1 he's not the answer either

Scarlett would be a good loan. Unfortunately he is currently on loan at Ipswich and they would like to keep him. Unfortunately Spurs want him back. Is it because Son is off to the African cup and they need back up .Domt think Orient have any chance of getting him.

Back to the original post - yeah, difficult to disagree with any of that.

But in terms of priorities, I'd say a winger to replace Graham and a no 10 to replace the ineffectual Moncur are what we most need. The problem is we need older, experienced players in those positions, not 20 year old Premier League/Championship loanees.

Deserves to keep his place after that performance. Really impressive to step in and play like that after so little football this season.

He's a talent and was unfairly frozen out, I'll be really annoyed if he is moved on or released end of season.

So so good - but you certainly need to raise your game to now to play in this Orient team.

Sweeney had a very good game, and he got an early yellow, so makes his performance even more impressive after so long out of 1st team.

I think you will find Son Heung-min is from South Korea in Asia, South Korea is not in Africa. Dane Scarlett was recalled from Ipswich due to a lack of playing time. Spurs would probably be looking to loan to a championship side where he would get regular playing time. A loan to League 1 is unlikely but not impossible, he did play 34 games for Portsmouth last year. Back on topic, congratulations to Sweeney for an excellent performance, particularly coming in having not played hardly this year.

No he didnt. He hasnt been picked for months, and will probably be gone in the summer. Tom James would have played, but his dad died.
Sweeney played one good game in months, and you reckon that proves me wrong.

Difficult to have a good game when you’re not being selected.

After that excellent performance 100% proved wrong me thinks

Sweeney has always shown he has ability, but lacks consistency. If he can do it regularly he'll get another contract

Sweeney is a strange one, Adz is correct about his consistency,for me he lacks confidence going forward,he looks for the easy pass and that’s mostly backwards or sideways but yesterday second half he was more proactive. He doesn’t often make forward runs without the ball and make himself available for his team mates however he can defend as he proved yesterday. The club can’t afford to have two first choice players in every position so as long as he puts in performances like yesterday and is a little more consistent then imo he’s more than an adequate backup imo

Last season I thought Jayden had some fantastic games and then some where he looked shaky and made some bad decision. I.e. the inconsistency one would expect of a young player (only 22 in Dec). Maybe this has meant Richie has been worried about throwing him in amongst the increased quality of L1. However his performance yesterday shows he has the skills to flourish against the best, albeit not proven consistently.
We don’t have unlimited funds, do we even have any funds? and I would say a new fullback is way down the list of what we might need this Jan.Winger, second striker, and quite possibly centre mid if El Miz (please no) and Moncs (sadly yes) leave.

Why do we qhem most of the time we play 3 at the back

Signed a 2 year deal in the Summer so not going anywhere. Was excellent yesterday. Hunt was good recently until injured

Exactly. Little doubt in my view that as things stand and given the choice, Wellens would pick James or Hunt over Sweeney every time.

Sweeney earned the shirt yesterday. There's a really neat player in there somewhere but he needs to keep his performance standards up. There have been days where he drifts and RW does not like drifters (Tom James is another btw).

It would be surprising considering we fought to keep him in the summer, with interest coming from at least one Championship club. Perhaps his absence since is because RW thinks that attention got to his head.

The recent performances by both Hunt and Sweeney prove's you're wrong . However it's looking like you could be right about Moncur .
