I've done a bit more reading and, by most accounts, any comments he has made in reference to the Falkland Islands was just to keep the Peronists on side. Apparently he couldn't care less about them, but would be open to an eventual transfer of sovereignty (which was pretty much the UK position before the Argies had to go and be imbecilic in 1982).

He was spouting off about Falklands being like Hong Kong and we gave that back to the Chinese
