Your intolerance with other people's views, says more about you that you could imagine.
But you say buy better. Does that mean more expensive less injury prone smaller squad bigger squad ? You make a statement but rarely define parameters.

PARAMETERS

1. TECHNICAL
a numerical or other measurable factor forming one of a set that defines a system or sets the conditions of its operation.
"there are three parameters by which a speaker is able to modify the meaning of the utterance—pitch, volume, and tempo"
2.
a limit or boundary which defines the scope of a particular process or activity.
"the parameters within which the media work"

Both examples of Parameters. We cannot say "better" without defining boundaries of what better means within a structure with a pre-set structure of rules. ie budget & ffp.

Perhaps you should take a look back over this thread, you are held in disdain by almost everyone because of your constant posts demanding the owners spend money we haven't got - relentlessly boring. I know you dislike me but frankly I couldn't give a toss.

It's OK we only need to spend half a million pounds on a striker and everything will be good, apparently(until the next demand). I mean it's not like we have owners who have constantly put their hands in their pockets and taken us from non league to half way up League One is it.

Just another half a mil from owners who have subsidised us to the tune of millions so far. What tight, incompetent bastards they must be if they don’t come through for COYOs.

This season we have bought in:

Piggot - Thumbs down from me so far.
Cooper - Thumbs up.
Galbraith- In Between but obvious potential.
Max Sanders - Thumbs Up
Jordan Graham - Thumbs Up
Brynn - Thumbs Up
El Miz - Thumbs Up
Turns - Thumbs Up
Ageyi - No rating as yet but a player that got unanimous approval when announced.

I get this is a simplistic rating and will take quibbles with Turns and Brynn on certain points but that is a pretty solid hit rate. But obviously gets no praise from chief moaner, just a demand for more money and desperate searching elsewhere for something to bitch about.

Yes Moncur looks unfit but he was a big component in our control of games last season, penalty taking and scored some other very good and important goals. Can’t just bin him off unfortunately, remains to see if he can get it together and use his obvious talent.

As for Smyth returning on loan, at least it would make true his comments from when he left.

COYOs you seem like the sort of person who if a bag of gold fell on your head would spend your time complaining about the price of bandages.

We’ve got the best manager I’ve known in my time supporting the club and have improved in each of his three seasons. A DOF with a good hit rate and with a bit of better luck with injuries we could be pushing play-offs in our first season back in L1.

ComeOnYouOs wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 2:16 pm In order to be a top team in this league we need to buy better. So many of our signings havent been good enough. The January 22 signings for example were terrible, only Jordan Brown has survived out of the six signed.

Moncur has turned out awful signing. He's one of the highest wage earners, but a liability now.

In order to get a goalscorer in, that will push us up the league, we have to either, spend ½ million pounds, or take a chance on a young 19/20 yr old), from non league, who's scoring for fun, and hope at their young age they can scale up to league 1 level.

No way will we get a good striker for 100 grand...those days dont exist anymore

As an aside, Id like to bring Smyth back on loan in January
We're Orient not Man City . I'm sure the club would love to buy better like we all would but we simply don't have the money . The club has a budget to work within plus isn't there something about a fair play ruling . At the moment the club doesn't generate enough money to bring in somebody like Mo Salah . This means we have to take our best gamble on players . On average most have paid off .

I think you only need to look at clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea to demonstrate that spending huge sums of money doesn’t guarantee you anything , far from it in fact. We have better owners than most and I think most of us are grateful to them for the investments they’ve made to help our steady progress.

Yep along with most boarders I completely agree, just COYOs that need convincing.

Upfront is where the management needs to be ruthless is upfront and quality there doesn't come cheap. Will mean moving on a few of the current squad to free up space.

One area that's a free hit is pre-season. Seemed poorly organised this summer leading to us playing against the wrong opposition on poor quality pitches. The season before same story with playing friendlies on 4G which caused injuries.

Fully agree with you there. Two pre seasons in a row which have lead to many Os players injured before the league season even kicked off !!

Sid I was at Col U for the pre-season game where Ageyi and Drinan got injured. The pitch looked OK to our eyes but evidently the O's were concerned before kick off and asked Col U to water it, but the groundsman at Col U for whatever reason point blank refused to put any water on it. In retrospect we should have refused to play if there was any doubt about the pitch. I fully agree about games on non grass pitches asking for trouble.

Talking about injuries, is there any update on Jordan Graham’s injury. Was it his ACL ? I’m hoping it’s not as bad as that but obviously he’ll be out for months regardless.

Jordan confirmed on social media he is out until next season, whether that is the start of next season (lets hope) or a few weeks/months in we don't know but I would think it was an ACL by the severity. Really bad luck as he was starting to show the player he is. It's a big loss for him and the club.

As a person who has suffered from bad knee injuries on both knees ( including sustaining ruptured ACL on right knee when playing football in 1970 ) I have full sympathy for footballers with bad knee injuries, after all its their livelihood that are at risk.

Damn . Anyway I wish Jordan a speedy recovery. He’s going to be really missed. With Agyei not back until at least Christmas time we’re going to be effectively playing without a number 7.

Yes - when the Mad Italian was running the club down some players refused to play because there was no medical insurance in place in case they were injured.
