New contract on better terms too I hope. He deserves it for sure.
Would a good businessman not try to negotiate the best possible deal for the club, rather than the player?
Nah. Without fail I got the best possible deal for my team. In my experience that then precipitated the best work ethic for the business. When the sh*t hit the fan I had a team willing to go the extra mile for me. Not a stupid deal for sure but a good one for them. Golden handcuffs. For the right people.

Doh has been whining all pre season about a lack of signings, but advocating giving more money to a player now who is already under contract and might struggle with the step up again.

Have I been moaning about a lack of signings? Not too sure that’s true. In fact I’ve been positive about the three who have come in and expect more based on comments from Travis and Ross. Even then I’ve been clear that I don’t expect big name, by lower league standards, players but competent bench warmers.
As for Coulson, each to their own opinion but mine being he is a massive player for us on the field and within the team and well worth being appointed Captain and offered a new deal and a better deal. If you feel otherwise, fine.

Capitalism. If you feel that as a boss you shouldn’t look after your team as best you can I’d hate to work for you. I always believed as the boss that I was only as good as my team and I made damn sure I surrounded myself with the best people I could get and rewarded them appropriately. Who the feck wants to take on people, invest time and effort in their development just to see them take their skills elsewhere for a few more quid. Get the best, treat them right and they are more likely to stay longer and do a good job.

@dOh Nut Yes what you have written above all sounds quite sensible and logical, but not it seems to others !!
Still what else can you expect on the Leyton Orient forum !!
Whenever I go to Leyton Orient matches and talk to supporters I may meet there, if I mention of the'' Leyton Orient Forum, most of them say ''what the blue forum ? That's full of idiots and nutters who are non stop arguing and insulting each other''
Say no more !!

It’s a tough old world out there Sid but I always tried to treat people, even competitors with respect. I’m long since retired but it gives me great pleasure to see many of the people I took on and developed now in senior positions themselves and I hope they treat their teams in the same way that I treated them.
I would love to treat people on this forum with the same respect, the odd bit of fun and banter of course, but with respect. Sadly not always possible with some so I tend to give as good as I get. Shame but there you are.

Speaking personally, abuse whether here, Twitter or Facebook don’t bother me. And I’m more than capable of returning such things with interest. I’m no shrinking violet and have had to deal with some pretty nasty stuff face to face, so no big deal. But my personal preference is not to go down that route. I quite enjoy this forum, it’s banter and even strong disagreements. But the childish insults do get boring.

Hasn't the club policy over the last couple of years to reward players who have performed well and brought good value to club with better terms. When players look at us and see how we now treat them surely it would be liable to make more players want to sign for us over somewhere else.

Of course, makes sense doesn't it !!
Same goes in the jobs market, firms get a reputation as to how they treat their staff.
Always a draw to go to a company who keep their staff happy and well looked after isn't it !

In the match day thread some people are having a pop at coulson, just by coincidence I was watching him closely today as he’s not been the dominating defender he was of last year.
The pace of the game is quicker and pace isn’t his strongest point.
His heading today I thought was good and he was especially in the 2nd half getting to headers that he might not have had a right to get to.
His distribution was ok, no real wonky passes and made good choices on who to lay it off to
I thought he did ok overall.
However, I believe that he is carrying an injury or something else. In the 2nd half he seemed to be struggling with his right leg, possibly hamstring, but it was clear he was not comfortable nor running well. However, at this point we had no subs left and he carried on.
Putting it in to context and some have possibly been over critical, I think he’s carrying an injury which is stopping him getting to full fitness, it’s his importance and leadership which is possibly overriding the physical condition right now.
He will come good again, that I’m convinced of after watching him carefully today.

Agreed with that assessment. The amount of crucial last ditch headers he and Marvin won in that first half was ridiculous.
No idea about the injury, just think it’s the jump up in standard that means he’s not as dominant as he was.

Certainly so far Josh hasn’t adapted as well as I had hoped or imagined he would. Unfortunately he’s not on his own in that respect.
