This time it certainly has. Let us pray this proposed deal does come off, a win win deal for all parties involved. OMG. Brighton continue to keep the cash till ticking, quite amazing the amount of money they are getting in with all these transfer deals and from what I can remember, they even got compensation from Chelsea when Potter and his coaching staff left Brighton to join them.DuvB wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 9:09 amWho says the Academy doesnt produce much!Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 9:02 amCorrect, so at today's currency rate....................1 euro equals 0.85 pound Sterling.LittleMate wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 10:34 pm Its €8m - so its under £7m so we could still be in for a fair whack if true. Alzate had his chance under Potter but has stalled. Watched him a few times and seemed hesitant to play positive football - almost if he was scared to make a mistake.
Showing results for 8 million euros to pounds
8,000,000 Euro equals
6,837,443.80 Pound sterling, so if its 20% of that going to the Os bank account, happy days indeed !

Re: Alzate: £8M transfer
I doubt it'd be structured so that all payment was up front and to be honest, it's a bit disappointing that this is the size of fee we're talking about given the trajectory he seemed to be on a few years ago at a club that are incredible at selling. But an extra 500k-1m would cover the extra money Wellens has suggested we're going to bring forward from January's reserve budget so hopefully gives us some funds to recruit now, and then later in the season once we have a better sense of where the real 'quality' issues lie.

Alzate gets Itay or Spain; Koroma has got Hudderfield and Dalby got Wales!
I think Alzate has the best of it!

There is also part of the 5% solidarity contribution that Orient would be due (on top of any potential future sell on fee) .... not all the 5% of the original transfer fee but a % for the years he was at our club.

Exactly... just like with Harry Kane... Orient will appear on the player passport for a part of the 5% solidarity contribution due as he was at our club before the age of 23. Being older than 23 does not mean a club does not get solidarity contribution payments!! Just like if Harry Kane would next season move to a new club from Bayern for x million euros... Orient would AGAIN be due solidarity contribution... and the same would apply if Alzate moves from his new club - say Sevilla - to a third club next season for x million euros!! So Orient are due a part of the solidarity from the Kane move... and again should Alzate move from Brighton for a transfer involving a fee.

Re: Alzate: £8M transfer
But Kane having been on loan at our club for x months... and being under 23 at the time... the club automatically appears on the player passport and all clubs participating in the players career up until 23 are due a part of the 5% solidarity for each transfer involving a transfer fee. Same way as Leicester, Norwich, Millwall and even Arsenal are all due money from the Kane transfer....

If that’s the case we must have made quite a bit on the players we have loaned

Only if those players ended up going for a transfer fee later on in their careers and the player was at our club before turning 23....

I think we’ve had a few of them. How old were the lads who were here with Kane?

Leeds also interested in Alzate, but could end up a season loan deal not a transfer, let’s hope it’s a transfer with a fee involved and not a season loan deal

Re: Alzate: £8M transfer
Had never heard of this before so looked it up, only relevant to international transfers so not hugely common. Kane went for 100m 5% is 5m split over 11 years. The first 4 years are worth half the subsequent years, so we should get over 500k from it!Leytondave wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 11:27 am Exactly... just like with Harry Kane... Re: Alzate: £8M transfer
According to the FIFA regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, clubs that have contributed to a player's training and education are entitled to receive a share of the solidarity contribution when the player is transferred. This applies to players on loan as well as those who are transferred permanently. The solidarity contribution is 5% of the transfer fee, and is paid by the buying club to the clubs that have trained the player.

Complicated arrangement that I had never heard of before and will be great if we can get a slice of the Harry Kane transfer fee. Wonder how long this will take to sort out and also wonder if the fans will ever get to know about the final outcome if we do get part of this transfer fee ?Adz wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 3:17 am According to the FIFA regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, clubs that have contributed to a player's training and education are entitled to receive a share of the solidarity contribution when the player is transferred. Unless NT talks about it, we'll only find out when the accounts are published at the end of the financial year.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 9:01 amComplicated arrangement that I had never heard of before and will be great if we can get a slice of the Harry Kane transfer fee. Re: Alzate: £8M transfer
As I mentioned yesterday: 5% solidarity contribution is payable for any transfer that involves a transfer fee! An electronic player passport is generated as soon as a transfer takes place and the national FA of that country will upload all clubs previously associated with the players training. Solidarity is payable up until the age of 23. There is also Training Compensation which potentially involves much higher amounts for a club like Leyton Orient than a share of the 5% solidarity would bring in. However, that is based on the training catergory of the club and Orient has a lower grade than Premier league teams for example. This is payable when a club offers a player his first professional contract. Anyway independent of all of this... Orient will be receiving a share of the solidarity of the Kane transfer through the FIFA clearing house but that is proving to take longer than usual since being introduced last year.... how do I know? I work in this area....

Ok we shall see if the Alzate transfer does come about and in the mean time, from what has been said before, still a slice of the Harry Kane transfer fee to come to the club.moonwalk19 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 2:02 pmSid Bishop wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 8:49 amGreat news for the club if this does happen and if this proposed transfer does happen, then hope that Steve Alzate's career flourishes at his new club.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 5:45 pm We have 20% of any profit so could be as much as £1.2 million. Lingy has stated in a very early interview around the time when Bonne was sold to QPR that in all cases when selling players a 20% sell on fee is included .He actually mentioned Alzate in that interview
Two people have told you it was said. Both have provided where it was said. Why don’t you find it if you’re still in doubt?
