While everybody above have made some very good points Jayden is still taking a gamble . If the club withdraws the offer that’s it . Who knows where he might end up next

If they withdraw the offer they lose the right for compensation

Good news . So we’ve managed to keep our defence together from last season. They just now need to gel with our new keeper.

If there is any substance in the Frankie Kent rumours, I have a horrible gut feeling Sweeney could be involved in a deal with Peterborough for him.
Sweeney is out of contract so no deals between clubs is required. If Sweeney wants to go he just signs for them

I thought he would've seen signed up along with Pratley and Brown, pretty early doors, absolutely there is more to this, if there is a new left back coming in then understandable or Jayden as he is free to do is going out to the open market to see his value

Some contractual issues that needed to be resolved that’s all.

Very happy with this. I am not sure if he is best as a full-back or a left midfielder. I look forward to see him next season.

Reading this thread, and the comments from fans, you thought we'd signed Messi.
Sweeney, is well behind James and Hunt in quality, and gives the ball away a lot more than either of those.
He's ok as a backup, but not a starter every week

We have 3 very good full backs, in James, Hunt & Sweeney, and I know Thompson and Ogie can fill in as well as young lad Sodje, but I do think we do need 1 more FB

I like Jayden as a player but think he offers far more going forward as maybe a wing back rather than an out and out defender.
Hunt will probably start before him and that could be why he’s hesitating in signing.
Wonder if he can play left wing?

Left wing back is a possibility if RW plays that system, or maybe as one of these new roles as ‘ inverted full back ‘ .

Although I was getting impatient with our out of contract players I have to confess I’m very pleased all our out of contract defenders have signed new contracts . To keep our defence together from last season can only be a good thing . They now just need to get used to a new keeper behind them.
