I find it utterly bizarre the Tories would field the same candidate who triggered this by-election in the first place by fiddling his expenses . The thick Tories thoroughly deserved to lose that seat.

Wales is a Labour stronghold in the North east and the south east where you have the Valleys. Here is where you find the majority of the population of Wales, and where you found the coal mines, steel and iron works. Particularly in the south east you find the majority of Parliamentary constituencies returning Labour MP's. Mid North West and West Wales is where you find sparse population, agriculture and a far bigger mixture of MP's. Brecon and Radnor, in mid Wales was always going to be a fight between Lib Dem and Tory. Plaid Cymru (pronounced 'cumree') and Greens decided not to field candidates so that the Lib Dem vote wouldn't be split. Boris' Tory party took a lot of the wind out of the Brexit party. Yes, bizarre to see the Tories field the disgraced candidate.

It was a bit more than fiddling his expenses. He created false invoices and was convicted on criminal charges.

Lib Dems take somewhere in Wales, shame they announced the results in jabber jabber language which none of the candidates understood. Majority of 1400. Labour in fourth place under the glorious leadership of an old racist.
It was very funny and Sky couldn't put up the voting figures either. Loved it that his English kicked in as he was announcing how many votes Lady Lily the Pink got.

Yep it did hold the seat for 30+ years but have been in 3rd spot for more than 20 years since. Not a major surprise.

It's an unwinnable seat. Labour supporters voted tactically to keep the far right out. Nothing to get all worked up about.

I’ve only Just heard on the radio that the Greens and Plaid Cymru didn’t stand to give the LibDems a better chance of winning the seat. Considering the Brexit Party put up a candidate and got 10% of the vote ,it was hardly a great win for the LibDems . They only narrowly won up against a crook

I'm not. Not being Labour I don't care but it's obvious to anyone other than hysterical centerists types that it really is no big deal.

Gone are the days when the Liberal Party had such shining lights as Cyril Smith, Clement Freud and Jeremy Thorpe.
Cyril Smith a shining bastion of an MP if ever there was one.

Do you know what a dirty, stinkin', filthy cheatin' Tory rat is? Well a Lie Dem is just a yellow version of that.
Think of them as the liars from the 2010 election who assisted the Tories in screwing the poor and most needy in our society.

Slightly disagree. There are a large number of genuine, idealistic and compassionate people in Labour but they're entirely irrelevant because they're held hostage by the party which is structurally and institutionally rat infested and entirely by design. You can't get the rats out. Political parties are where the rats live.

As an addendum to my previous post, I've even met nice and genuine Lib Dems who think they're in the best vehicle for political progressivism and simply hand wave away the things that they don't like about their own party as though its an anomaly that they can disown. Mainstream politics is, frankly, down right weird.

Yeah I mean it's not like nice and genuine progressive people in the Labour party ever simply hand wave away issues in the party as though it's an anomaly that they can disown
