Based on the January transfer activity it doesn’t look like they are all that keen on financing a League 1 club, let alone the championship!

Why don’t both of you listen to RW’s interview where he reiterates that he has been given everything he has asked for and wonders why some people are saying otherwise? Perhaps you’d like to explain to Ritchie the discrepancies between your respective comments and what he is saying. Oh, I know why, it gets in the way of having a pop.

Well, if it isn’t to get this club as high as possible I’m not quite sure why they would want to own a football club. Don’t get me wrong because thank God they have did . They saved the club from going out of existence. All I’d like to know is what are they aiming for?

Sadlier will not be cheap, we've brought in two defenders that we otherwise would have not needed due to injuries, and we've had one of our presumably highest earners return early from a loan spell. Whether we've recruited the right players is another question and is where Long and Wellens will be judged. But I'm not sure the board can be criticised for the amount they're putting in We're losing a massive amount of money every season at it is.

They have been pretty transparent and good at communicating. Loads of direct interviews through the club website, newspapers, fanzines, podcasts, radio etc.

The ambition is to get out of league 2 and establish in league one. That's alongside massively improving our training facilities and getting a good recruitment structure in place, whilst getting the behind the scenes operation up to scratch so we don't bleed money like we currently do.

I don't think we've seen evidence of an inspired recruitment structure in place really. Despite the presence of a director of football, it seems like quite an old school operation of finding players via recommendations, contacts and networks. We've bought well in the last couple of seasons but not many of them are diamonds in the rough, more proven talents who Ling, Wellens or their mates know.

If/when we get to league 1, it'll be a test of how deep their pockets are and how ambitious they want to be. I'd be happy if we were sustainably funding a mid league 1 budget and hoping we get the right combination of manager and players to punch above our weight ala the Slade years. That feels like a reasonable target.

It's amazing the speed that Comeonyouos, Cockhat, GShaw, Poundshop, and a few others sprung into action when results stopped flowing. Didn't hear from them for 5 months but the first stumble they are in there like a shot with the normal "Ling delaying transfers" + "Board has no ambition" + "Wellens will be off" type crap that you would expect from the fickle moaners union on this board.

Results and performances in January have been frustrating but the players haven't become bad players overnight, confidence needs to restored asap, one decent result and some better luck with injury and suspension and we will be off again.
