Well, if it isn’t to get this club as high as possible I’m not quite sure why they would want to own a football club. Don’t get me wrong because thank God they have done . They saved the club from going out of existence. All I’d like to know is what are they aiming at?Long slender neck wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 9:50 am They 'read everything'.
They might bring in other investors. I don't know what ambitions all the current other investors have.

You should know by now that some people don't listen to the interviews, they just like to moan about everything.Omygawd wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:28 pmWhy don’t both of you listen to RW’s interview where he reiterates that he has been given everything he has asked for and wonders why some people are saying otherwise? They have been pretty transparent and good at communicating. Loads of direct interviews through the club website, newspapers, fanzines, podcasts, radio etc.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:44 pmWell, if it isn’t to get this club as high as possible I’m not quite sure why they would want to own a football club. The ambition is to get out of league 2 and establish in league one. That's alongside massively improving our training facilities and getting a good recruitment structure in place, whilst getting the behind the scenes operation up to scratch so we don't bleed money like we currently do.
I don't think we've seen evidence of an inspired recruitment structure in place really. Despite the presence of a director of football, it seems like quite an old school operation of finding players via recommendations, contacts and networks. We've bought well in the last couple of seasons but not many of them are diamonds in the rough, more proven talents who Ling, Wellens or their mates know.
If/when we get to league 1, it'll be a test of how deep their pockets are and how ambitious they want to be. I'd be happy if we were sustainably funding a mid league 1 budget and hoping we get the right combination of manager and players to punch above our weight ala the Slade years. That feels like a reasonable target.

Re: A Question to Nigel & Kent?
While I accept all of that and understand about the FFP rule, I’m still hoping we can sign another striker before the transfer deadline. With Sadler coming in I’m quite sure our creativity will improve to help any new striker.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:13 am We're still only a few years out from Bechetti spending way, way beyond our means and nearly bankrupting the club. How fickle do you have to be to start complaining about our budget whilst we've built a squad that is challenging for automatic promotion?
Sadlier will not be cheap, we've brought in two defenders that we otherwise would have not needed due to injuries, and we've had one of our presumably highest earners return early from a loan spell. Whether we've recruited the right players is another question and is where Long and Wellens will be judged. But I'm not sure the board can be criticised for the amount they're putting in We're losing a massive amount of money every season at it is.

I fully appreciate we have great owners and I thank God we have them. The club is in safe hands and I know they will do the right thing . All I’m saying I hope we have enough left in our budget to bring in a decent- ish striker.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:58 pmThey have been pretty transparent and good at communicating. Yeah - heaven forbid people with a range of views express them on this message board!Top of the JES wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 3:33 pmIt's amazing the speed that Comeonyouos, Cockhat, GShaw, Poundshop, and a few others sprung into action when results stopped flowing. Didn't hear from them for 5 months but the first stumble they are in there like a shot with the normal "Ling delaying transfers" + "Board has no ambition" + "Wellens will be off" type crap that you would expect from the fickle moaners union on this board.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:20 am Good to see comeonyourarse thinking ahead to the next thing he can moan about anyway.
Results and performances in January have been frustrating but the players haven't become bad players overnight, confidence needs to restored asap, one decent result and some better luck with injury and suspension and we will be off again.

The years pass, time moves on, I look in the mirror and see more grey, more lines, but one thing remains constant - someone will post an FAO The Club’s Owners on this board to point out that they’re worried that if the club gets success, the owners might not have the ambition or finances to consolidate it.

Re: A Question to Nigel & Kent?
Find it baffling that we are somehow constrained by FFP after just loans, and the Gllinghams, Colchesters, Stevenage, Crawleys and Salfords of this world are doing a league 2 equivalent of Chelsea.
