Nearly. We got to the final having beaten both Aberdeen and Partick and then got stuffed by Nottingham Forest. Brian Clough's first strophy with them if I remember correctly.

Re: EFL Trophy
All very lol that they draw the ‘sh*t’ teams in private, unannounced on a Tuesday but make a thing about some premier league teams kids and what group they end up in.
f*** the whole thing

Re: EFL Trophy
Is this the old JPT? Two extra games we have to play *yawn*
That said would be good if Alzate plays for Brighton youth, would like to see Turley kick him into next week

Wasn't it brighton last time we were in it?

Re: EFL Trophy
Absolute joke of a tournament. Hopefully Orient fans boycott and this tournament is scrapped or reverted back in a couple of years.
The most low-key meeting with Southend ever?

Re: EFL Trophy
There will be same idiots on social media mocking people who dont go and giving it the old 'I'm a real fan, i'll support orient whenever they play' and then embarrassing themselves squaring up to southend fans from 200m away.
Wouldn't mind betting the Brighton game will be one of our lowest attendances ever which will probably cost the club money putting on.

In all likelihood both home games will be played on European midweeks and just the East stand will be open. Suspect less than 1000 for each game.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 2:31 pm Wouldn't mind betting the Brighton game will be one of our lowest attendances ever which will probably cost the club money putting on.

Will also be the same ones demanding the full first XI play despite having a league game on the Saturday as we "have to try and win everything"Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 2:31 pm There will be same idiots on social media mocking people who dont go and giving it the old 'I'm a real fan, i'll support orient whenever they play' and then embarrassing themselves squaring up to southend fans from 200m away.

This is the competition where you play the youths and give Alabi 90 minutes to find his shooting boots.

Re: EFL Trophy
Think the were about 900 at the only game we've played in it before, against Stevenage in 2016. I went to that game, but refused to go to the Brighton game.
I don't know if I would go to the Southend game. I love this fixture and would have relished it in a league game or in the League Cup or FA Cup, but this tournament is such a joke that its completely diminished.

Re: EFL Trophy
The old JPT was a tournament worth having.
If you go out early, it only costs you 1 or two games of football and its not the end of the world. If you make it to the latter stages, you can get some really good fixtures and a trip to Wembley.
I remember some great ties in this competition- Southend 4-2 away, Yeovil at home 1-0, the Southend semi final was a great occasion despite the result.
They've ruined it with the academy teams, and to a lesser extent the group stage.

Re: EFL Trophy
They have made this competition really khazi now
Although I used to do most of the JPT home games, I'm not even sure I could motivate myself to attend even if we got the 'plum tie' against wes dam irregulars second XI

Re: EFL Trophy
No because the FA Trophy is a proper competition. No sensible football fan could care less about the EFL hybrid (though I reserve the right to go to the final should we make it)
