All this performative nonsense is cringe and never actually persuades or changes anything.
Oh, and ditch the f*cking hair dye.
Ok dad.

What protests do work then?
Picket lines blocking carbon infrastructure.
Picket lines that stop ordinary members of the public from doing their ordinary jobs to feed and clothe their families? Great idea.

Thanks.
It stops the oil. Throwing soup on a painting doesn't stop the oil. More helpful advice is available for a reasonable fee.

It won't stop the oil. There will be a temporary halt, until the old Bill turn up and heavy-handedly drag the protesters away, then Pretty Patel will do another law to ban anyone from doing picket lines or something.

I don’t know. But I don’t think “if you don’t know what works, then let’s stick to what already doesn’t work” is great.
So don't bother protesting, just do some internet moaning instead?

But it wasn't just some old paining (I didn't realise it had glass protection). It was Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.
I mean, glue yourselves to a petrol forecourt by all means. Or, if you feel that art has to be the target, then throw soup over a Banksy or something. But not the Sunflowers for heaven's sake! The insurance on that alone is astronomical, and some of us are heavily invested in insurance underwriters.
Salvator Mundi is where the inurance rackett earns its corn , not 1 of 4 paintings of a wall climber .

A temporary halt is a disruption to the exact thing they want to impact on, and heavy handed policing of a protest with a clear direct aim can also win people over.
This type of protest feels more in line with the PETA approach which is almost proud about seeking attention rather than changing minds

Probably, but even a temporary halt is more of an achievement than anything today.

Colouring your hair any shade of red is just a touch too close to cultural appropriation for the likes of me.

You have seen the XR guys in the news the past year or so? Their little disruptions haven’t proved too popular. And any heavy handedness thrown their way has been greeted with cheers.
This sort of thing is absolutely about raising awareness.

There will always be cheers. The question is about whether, alongside the cheers from people who will never agree, you can convince some people who are reachable

Likes the bit where they linked it to energy prices, if they want lower energy bills and are anti oil then surely coal is the answer to please everyone.

It's all performative nonsense anyway, a way of inflating their egos without having to do much at all.

Looking forward to what attention seeking these nutters have in store next.

"Pheobe Plummer, 21, who threw tomato soup over Van Gogh's Sunflowers, attended St Mary’s School Ascot, the £15,000-a-term independent boarding school, before going to Mander Portman Woodward, a private college."
Shocked.
