I've said it before and will again...this is going to be a tough season after Edinburgh's death and a bit of squad churn this season will do no harm.

Childish last line, but that sums you up!😴
It doesn't sum me up. The bit that sums me up is the bit before where I deconstructed a hard of thinking point of view.

We always assume that the Club wishes to sell a player. It may be that the player is interested. If a player wishes to leave, perhaps he's been offered loads more money, and he is stopped it will affect his attitude.

You don't want someone playing who does not wish to be there and feels hard done by. It would be better to take the money whilst it's on the table.

As of today we have so far, got a lot of business to do (signing, not selling) to make the squad stronger than it was end of last season. Some of yesterday's rumours sounded positive, hoping at least a few come through.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Alabi get another shot if we can’t offload him. The odd appearance. Though Travis did say two strikers were coming in so his chances will be limited. But if we are paying his wages then I expect him to be available to play.
If we keep him around to save legs of our main players for the tinpot EFL cup etc. then fair enough but if he's retained in lieu of a new signing then that will leave us short. Let's hope that second striker will come through.

We have some two strikers and signed two new ones, haven't we?
We were short of quality outside of the main pairing last season, can't do that again. Released Simpson, transfer listed Alabi and kept Harrold to play 20 mins here and there from the bench.

4 out, 2 isn't good enough if we want to be anything better than bottom half of the league.

I'm one of the few on here that has been suspicious of Teagues motives since he joined, but I'm certain that those motives don't involve running a league two club at minimum cost. At best he wants to run a successful club and enjoy the plaudits that brings for a long time, at worst he wants to make the club attractive to new buyers sooner rather then later and make a profit on any outlay he is exposed too. Neither of those involve a club languishing at the foot of L2.

We would not have paid a fee for two strikers if minimum outlay was the new business strategy. Straight away you are above the minimum cost route that could have been taken.

Edinburgh was quite open that the next aim was League One and I don't think Travis and Teague have changed their whole long term strategy because he is sadly no longer with us. We have signed three players since, all of whom Edinburgh and Ling had previously identified as early as December/January and we have stuck with those choices.

Short term objectives may have changed, but that's fully understandable right?

I'm not sure we could have more "up front" owners to be honest.

That said Teague had previously admitted that the plan they had included a promotion every four years. I suspect that finances were incrementally budgeted on that basis but we all know that in football the unexpected can happen. Perhaps going up in year two and with the admission of re financing the football club during the early summer we have just had to adjust our financial plans to make sure that we can sustain L2 football in the short term while the club is being strengthened commercially. I recall that Justin Edinburgh didn't agree with the boards target for last season which was to make the play offs, I wonder what the boards target is this year.

Ummmm... because that's today's date

First pre-season friendly on Saturday so looking at the squad we're fielding for it. Currently weaker than what ended last season. Can only judge the situation as it stands at a given moment in time.

Can't also seriously count Sotiriou as a first team option. He didn't even play in NL last season let alone L2.
Buddy Manucci wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 12:53 pm

Not looking at promotion this season at all after what's happened. Solely concerned with holding our own in this league and never returning to tinpot NL ever again.

I would of thought that all boards over the EFL are looking for one of those promotion spots bigger payouts etc

I've not claimed anywhere that we should only trust the Orient Outlook podcast. Just to actually use our brains to evaluate whether a particular information source is reliable before we choose to start believing what they say.

I find it strange so many are willing to "wish good luck" to departing players but blame the owners for them leaving.

Personally I wish those departing no good luck at all, their agents used the success of this club to boost careers that were going nowhere until Orient gave them chances to shine and the player were only too happy to boot us in to touch at what could be considered our lowest point. #our club my ass.!!

The owners didn't tout the players around.

Interesting only Richie Towell has left Salford for a championship club- Brighton ( a player who is far more likely to actually play for the first team there than our own departures) and so far they've not had to pay a fee for any replacements nor have they received any.

Good business by T&T if players have no loyalty get the best price per kilo for them.

It's difficult to say at this stage, but ultimately pointless. We were never going to keep Bonne and Koroma so it doesn't matter how good they were. What matters is that the new signings are of the best possible quality.

As it happens, I think Wright is an improvement on Lee/Lawless and Wilkinson and Angol will be good forwards at this level.

Funny how people's perspectives are skewed. Title of the post is "With all the selling going on" we have sold two players who we knew were going and paid a fee for two players.

We may sell another one or two we buy another one or two, not so bad really is it?

We didn't know they were going. Let's not rewrite history. All the talk end of season was this group of players being given the chance to go again, Travis warning there would only be 1 or 2 changes max.

It is bad if the players coming in are of a lesser quality than those coming in. Especially when in a higher division than last season.

With a release fee for Bonne it was only a matter of time before someone took a punt on him.

What exactly did Travis say that warned of only 1 or 2 changes? Missed this so want to check it out.

So far this summer we have upgraded on what we have in terms of the starting XI in centre mid and are down on forwards (which doesn't necessarily mean we will struggle to score goals by the way). Still got quite a bit of work to do on the squad in terms of the midfield, a winger and a forward but I'm not going to fuss about that until August.
