The midfield options just weren't up to it, you lose that area you lose the game. There's a good reason Coleman and Young are nowhere near the squad this season.
We stopped scoring goals
& were conceding goals .
Nowt to do with the middle bjt
It was the 2 end bits that were f*cked !
You know as well as I do if you lose the middle of the park it puts more pressure on the defence. Similarly if you can't win or keep the ball you can't get it to the attackers to score.

Look at the some of the 50:50 challenges El Miz has been crashing through in the last couple of games as evidence of that. Makes a huge difference. As RW said the midfield was unbalanced, with too many similar players. He's sorted that out sharpish and it makes all the difference.
We lost the defence as soon as Tom James got injured
Then Wood fell out & then Happe's Injury .

Our midfield was fine upto Hartlepool &
Again from When RW came to the O's .

Yes we have a better midfield now
But the midfield last season collapsed because the defence was in dissaray , KJ lost interest & when RW came in & our so called 2nd rate midfield won 23 points out of 30 + available .

I had a proper post written there but lost the tab and cba doing it again. There's a game I looked back at in late December time where we fielded a CM of Kyprianou, Young and Kemp. Absolutely no chance with that.

Also having no RB cover and signing another lost youth player in Moss really did for us at the time. Wellens getting that solidity from bringing in Thompson made a big difference.

Looking back at some of those lineups makes one even more grateful for Wellens' choosiness in the quality of players he's allowing to be signed. Squad is far more balanced now and much better for it.

Thompson wasnt really available for Jackett as he was coming back from a broken leg , hence the signing of Rae as nobody was sure about Thompsons fitness .

Clay being injured helped nobody .
Where is Dan Kemp & Hector these days ?
A league above us .

Dont forget Smyth getting injured for 3 weeks for a hair out of place , a Month for his lung & 2 weeks here & there for numerous Hamstrings .

Its easy to blame what we had last season
When it fell apart .
I say Wellens with those players those injuries
Then add the covid outbreaks& he would of had a
dodgy 2 months as well

Both of these, Hector in particular, was a boo boys favourite. Hector now getting decent game time at the top end of league one; Kemp less so. Hector's still a work in progress but with plenty of potential. This time tomorrow I get my first glimpse of Idris and I'm hoping to be able to say he's an upgrade on Hector. Got a good feeling about both Idris and the team for tomorrow's game...

El Mizouni has a clause in his contract that would allow Ipswich to recall him in January.

Both not suited to the hustle and bustle of L2, trouble with Orient pre Wellens is playing those based on future potential rather than what we needed at that moment in time.

Regardless of where they're playing right now, in terms of what they bring to Orient El Miz > Kyrpianou and Moncur > Kemp

Agree with tuffers we need to make the most of these players we have right now and Wellens is doing exactly that.

I thought Young had gone out on loan as well?
Supposed to be on loan to Wealdstone. That said played 48 minutes of one pre-season friendly, and hasn't been in their squad for any of their National League matches.
Bloody hell, what’s gone on there?
They are flying top of the NL
