I've been following that one quite closely as it's my local hospital. I think NHS Fife are going to get slaughtered. They've really dropped a bollock with this. The Doc is also a whacko and is making stuff up to bolster their case. The health board have also just attempted to start a separate disciplinary case against the nurse, for actions they've already asserted to be true in this tribunal (despite not yet having the disciplinary investigation yet). Feels like they're at the bottom of a hole and are still digging.Long slender neck wrote: βFri Feb 28, 2025 11:17 am Scotland in the news again, row over an NHS changing room. Basically a nurse was suspended for bullying because she objected to a trans woman doctor being in the female changing room

Quite shockingly the doctor told the court that biological sex was a "nebulous term which doesn't really mean anything".
Have they got the photos the right way round in that article?Long slender neck wrote: βFri Feb 28, 2025 11:17 am Scotland in the news again, row over an NHS changing room. Basically a nurse was suspended for bullying because she objected to a trans woman doctor being in the female changing room

Seems to me that some people wont be comfortable with these sort of policies and it puts both sides in an awkward position.NHS guidance states that trans men and women are allowed to use the changing rooms that align with their gender identity.
I haven't been following it as its not my local hospital but I did hear about it on the news and read it in the papers.StillSpike wrote: βFri Feb 28, 2025 11:27 amI've been following that one quite closely as it's my local hospital. Or c) Was being kind and didn't want to get the nurse into trouble by being a grass.StillSpike wrote: βFri Feb 28, 2025 12:50 pm Doc has also claimed that the nurse left a patient alone because she didn't want to be in the same cubicle as the Doc. Trouble is this claim was made months after the supposed event.
IF she had left a patient in those circs, then it was a very serious matter, and the doc was duty bound to report it immediately. They didn't, so either a) it didn't happen, in which case making up such a claim to get a nurse fired is pretty appalling, or b) it did happen, in which case WTF was the doc doing not reporting it as it would have endangered a patient. Can't have it both ways.
Not sure "not wanting to be a grass" is allowed in medical circles.Max B Gold wrote: βFri Feb 28, 2025 12:56 pmOr c) Was being kind and didn't want to get the nurse into trouble by being a grass.StillSpike wrote: βFri Feb 28, 2025 12:50 pm Doc has also claimed that the nurse left a patient alone because she didn't want to be in the same cubicle as the Doc. Oh I agree it goes on, but I really, really, don't believe that Dr Upton didn't report it out of some sort of compassion. Consider these 2 situations:Max B Gold wrote: βFri Feb 28, 2025 1:04 pmNo it isnt but closing ranks and operating medical issues omerta is. In itself this should be a serious disciplinary case against the Doc. (and the nurse, I guess, for not reporting that the doc had not reported her)Max B Gold wrote: βFri Feb 28, 2025 1:23 pm So she gave her a second chance. Another act of kindness.
It's a tough read but it's safe. No pictures.
