Given you are the Boards emptiest vessel I am going to take your word for it.
So you know my qualifications, IQ, experiences, etc. etc. Willing to bet they trump yours and by some considerable margin. 😂

You are a clear example of the big-mouthed dim-wit. 😂👏
Despite all your alleged experience and qualifications we can only go by what you post..... so I can see where Max is coming from tbh.
As a big mouthed dim-wit I agree.

I just wonder how many years they waited in silence keeping an eye out for a racist rallying point but without the overtly fascist overtones?

Yet again, as in the 70s the Tories provide the Brexit fuelled racist cover for the far right to operate under.

There was no racialism in the 70s, ask Bera.

I always thought racialism was how we described the differences between races and racism was the belief that one race was superior to another.

Why would it have? You really think some kneeling would stop people sending abuse on social media, if only a couple of cab drivers didn't boo it down the o's?

The only (admittedly crap) analogue I can think of is my lack of belief in a divine being. Quite a few people who do believe in a divine being pass my house on a Sunday morning to worship at the church across the road from me. I have never felt the desire to stand outside the church and boo them for their belief.

Ooh so Liberal. Get on with the booing. They are the same lot who won't take the knee.

Because it would have just naturally run it’s course.

No i don’t think the kneeling is going to cure racism, that’s not what the gesture is meant to do. Shall we go over why they are kneeling yet again?

It’s not just a couple of cabbies down the Os booing it, is it? It’s regularly headline news, even the PM and the home sec have spoken out against it.

I don’t believe we should have one family ruling over us but I somehow manage not to boo the national anthem before big games.

Beradogs wrote: Fri Oct 15, 2021 7:16 pm Nobody has said to boo the knee have they? That’s just disrespectful to those that think it does some good. I don’t agree with it for one very simple reason. What is the point of any gesture like this? It should only have one. To make people change their minds. To convert racists into non racists. Everything else is superfluous. Everything else is irrelevant. This is not changing a single mind in fact it’s hardening attitudes so. Why are they still doing it? Give me a reason. A genuine reason why? Is it too “highlight” racism? If so, every week they highlight racism. Then what? What is the point aside from people who agree with it get to call people who don’t understand the point names, making them feel better about themselves as they throw Mohamed’s CV in the bin.
By ‘hardening attitudes’ I can only presume you mean it’s essentially making racists more racist. Do you think that’s true? Why?

It’s definitely possible that it hasn’t led to any meaningful change either way. I think you’re right to be frustrated by the futility of peacefully protesting racism, but maybe it’s good for a majority white crowd to experience a taste of that futility.

Your hypothetical ‘Mohamed’ doesn’t get to choose when and where he’s confronted by/reminded of the harsh realities of racism, why should we? Maybe it will increase people’s appetite for meaningful change. You seem to be advocating for it, and that can only be a good thing.

I don’t believe she said the racists should boo, just that they have the right to boo it if they felt like it.

I’d be more impressed if those that get so worked up about it took the knee themselves to support the cause rather than sit and politely clap others doing it.
Why?
Courage of conviction. If you think it’s a great gesture and a great cause then join in rather than watch and applaud others.

How was it today?

The players did the right thing today and last week. By not taking the knee last week they brought the debate about the need for it out into the open and also drew the racists (and/or apologists for) on the board out into the open. By taking the knee today they showed that a 10 second gesture continues to be an important stance.

10 seconds. I thought it was 3 seconds. Did they up the intensity today?
