The only (admittedly crap) analogue I can think of is my lack of belief in a divine being. Quite a few people who do believe in a divine being pass my house on a Sunday morning to worship at the church across the road from me. I have never felt the desire to stand outside the church and boo them for their belief.

Nobody has said to boo the knee have they? That’s just disrespectful to those that think it does some good. I don’t agree with it for one very simple reason. What is the point of any gesture like this? It should only have one. To make people change their minds. To convert racists into non racists. Everything else is superfluous. Everything else is irrelevant. This is not changing a single mind in fact it’s hardening attitudes so. Why are they still doing it? Give me a reason. A genuine reason why? Is it too “highlight” racism? If so, every week they highlight racism. Then what? What is the point aside from people who agree with it get to call people who don’t understand the point names, making them feel better about themselves as they throw Mohamed’s CV in the bin.

By ‘hardening attitudes’ I can only presume you mean it’s essentially making racists more racist. Do you think that’s true? Why?

It’s definitely possible that it hasn’t led to any meaningful change either way. I think you’re right to be frustrated by the futility of peacefully protesting racism, but maybe it’s good for a majority white crowd to experience a taste of that futility.

Your hypothetical ‘Mohamed’ doesn’t get to choose when and where he’s confronted by/reminded of the harsh realities of racism, why should we? Maybe it will increase people’s appetite for meaningful change. You seem to be advocating for it, and that can only be a good thing.
