Inspection at 2.30 pm. Apparently it's stopped raining but the outfield is saturated. Somerset must take 20 Essex wickets to be champions and running out of time.

Inspection at 2.30 pm. It's stopped raining but the outfield is unplayable. Somerset need 20 Essex wickets to be champions. Time and the weather are not helping.

Take it whatever way it comes. We haven't won it yet but if we do it's because we gained more points over the previous 13 games than everyone else, not because it's rained for a few hours.

Rain is an occupational hazard when it comes to Cricket.

Rock on. And if it rains all day tomorrow the only thing I care about will be whose name goes in the record books.

If Somerset win this one they are deserving Champions. Their only chance is to roll Essex over, immediately declare their innings and put Essex in, then bowl them out again.

Come on Essex. No heroics, just bat out the game.

Essex 44-1. This pitch is shocking though less than a days cricket and it's turning square. All in favour of teams being able to prepare pitches to favour thier attack but this one is beyond poor.

Hard to criticise a team for preparing the pitch to suit their side. Though it’s reasonable to expect one that is playable. Of course it suits Somerset to create a pitch that favours a result over a draw. Makes no odds if they lose but gives them a chance of a win.

Bloody hell, took me a few seconds for the relevance of the video to dawn. Clever.

I have already stated that the Somerset pitch has been reported several times this season for being too spinner friendly. Essex now 92-1.
Another relevant song.

Not too sure the deficit matters, they have to bowl Essex out twice.

Is Sir Alastair Cook the only knight playing in top level sport? Odd to see his title on the scoreboard on Sky.
