In a match they had to win they didn’t even manage a shot on target. That sums them up.
They had at least one, keeper saved a shot from Hanley at his near post.

Wanted Scotland to win and can’t fault their effort. But barely any chances and few corners made their task nigh on impossible

They are correct. VAR fail.
VA-farce on full display tonight. So they can overrule a good goal for a millimetre offside or inadvertent brush of a hand but not even review a CB clattering a striker clean in on goal?
I just don’t understand how that wasn’t even looked at.
It's obvious Germany needs the Jocks to crash out of the tournament before all the beer and good cheer runs out.
Leaving the way clear for more beer for Ze enliszh to get pissed out of their tiny little minds and sing about and glorify the bombing of innocent women and children during WWII. HTH.

It wasn't a penalty. Hilariously, the Scottish player did a weird sort of air kick then grabbed the defenders shirt and threw himself to the ground. A desperate attempt to cover for his incompetence.

No offence to the scots on here, but they were the worst team in the tournament. Most of that team are championship standard at best.

They’ve done alright though given their national team has to select primarily from a pub league

Stunk the tournament out really. Poor team who got what they deserved for such a negative set up each game, 5-4-1 with Adams running around alone up top was so bland compared to how most other teams have played.
Great point. They should have played more like say France or Spain.
Off top of my head, Georgia, Romania, Serbia, Albania, Slovakia and Slovenia are all teams with similarly small populations or limited resources who've played with more ambition and sense of fun than Scotland managed. They didn't have a single shot in the first half of a game they needed to win and only brought on extra attackers in the 76th minute.

Well, most of them play in England, so doesn't say much for the standard down there

There are too many average teams in this tournament.

Very true, but this is the result of FIFA and UEFA expanding the competition to include countries that really don't have the ability to progress.
Ive always thought that maybe they're should be a mini World Cup or Euros for these countries the week before the real competition so that only 1 or 2 progress to the actual tournament.

Agree entirely, the expansion of tournaments so pub league teams like Scotland can qualify only to be humiliated seems pointless.
Guess it’s all part of their strategy to make more money by playing more games

Correct. We should strive for a time when all teams are above average.

Have Scotland just exited another tournament without having scored a single goal?
(Obviously, own goals don't count)
No.
38 years of the Scots wearing Argentina shirts, banging on endlessly about Maradonna, it’s an Argie ref who stiffs them for a stonewall penalty. Absolute theatre

It's not a f**king Under 8s tournament.
They clearly ballsed things up in the first game. Thought they were ok v a decent Swiss side. They just didn't have enough guile to break down a very defensive set up last night but still should have sneaked it with the penalty that wasn't given.

The fact they moved him onto a stretcher and out of the stadium so quickly (well, once the stretcher made it onto the pitch) had to be a good sign.

Looks a bit like our Theo.
He should have worn one of these hats instead of that hairband at the start of last season.

Do you think it could be Max B Gold? I hope not as that's not how I envisage him at all...

comparing him to Kevin de Bruyne is like chalk and cheese.
I mean, it literally is because they play in completely different positions.
Half the people on this thread have to be on a wind-up, surely?
In terms of effort shown so far they are like chalk and cheese. I know they play in different positions but FFS Kane came off the pitch after the Denmark game and had hardly broken sweat.

You must have been given your own special replay of the incident. The rest of us saw the defender knee Armstrong in the back of the thigh, before wrapping his arm round his neck and throwing him to the ground. From all the games I have watched, it is clear that VAR are only going to rule on offsides and are not much interested in getting involved with anything else. Which, to be fair, is the way I would normally want it

Wasn't the obvious penalty that those of a Scottish persuasion are making it out to be (he had a fistful of Orban's shirt for starters) and Clarke did himself a real disservice by trying to make a thing out of the referee not being from Europe. Bit pathetic. Should perhaps have told his players to take a shot before the 80th minute or done some basic crossing practice before the game.
