Carry-On.

No, not the hilarious, innuendo-ridden romps of the 60s and 70s. But the new Netflix film.

It's a total dogs turd.

Also, went to see Sigourney Weaver in the new version of The Tempest. It may possibly be the worst thing I have ever seen on the stage. I'd have been fumin' if I'd have paid for tickets, especially at the prices they are charging for this sh*tfest.

Day of the Jackal- yeah it was alright. Ending was a bit unexpected. Biancas huge trousers were a bit distracting.

Lockerbie.

Colin Firth plays Colin Firth in this conspiracy-based telling of a man's obsession to find out the truth behind the bombing. It isn't as good as it thinks it is. And, if there's a story to be told about the brutal murder of hundreds of people, this isn't it.

Civil War

I never caught this at the cinema, so had yo wait for it to come on Prime. I recall it receiving some muted reviews at the time.

Personally, I think it definitely worth a watch. Visually stunning, amazing sound, strong performances, and an annoying teenager whose recklessness gets other people killed.

Don't expect many answers or explanation of what is going on at any point. But just settle in for a film that is different, and captures the chaos of a civil war through the perspective of a press crew. It gets a thumbs-up.

Babygirl

Spent the whole film trying to work out what work Nicole Kidman has had done to her face. It looks weird and in no way makes her look attractive.

The film has some funny moments but I left thinking I shouldn't have bothered.

2 films this weekend.
A Real Pain- well worth a watch, 2 cousins visiting their Granny's home in Poland on a holocaust tour doesn't sound like it would be good, buts it's magnificent. Kieran Caulkin particularly. Beautifully filmed, moving and funny. 9/10.

Conclave- pope election with nice twist. 7/10.

Also enjoying The Traitors and the best show on tv Junior Bake Off with Harry Hill.

Really enjoyed A Real Pain

The first shot of Kieran Caulkin is him sitting in a chair at the airport. The amazing thing about the scene is that he is sitting like any normal person would, bum on seat and feet on floor. He never achieved this in four seasons of Succession when he played Roman Roy.

The Nightingale (Netflix) - a woman chases after some men who wronged her in Australia somewhere at the turn of the century. Nobody is left unoffended in this film, multiple trigger warnings required. Pretty savage. Great language. 7/10

I watched the Series "The Agency" over the last couple of days. It was fairly good, although it felt familiar. I then realised it was a remake of the brilliant French series "le Bureau". Only one season made so far - it will be interesting to see if they carry on, like "le Bureau" did, to 5 seasons.

Got very lucky. Kept checking and secured myself two poo poo seats before Christmas. It was fine in the end and they even chucked in a free programme and drink.
