Don’t think like them if you don’t want to. Stick with the ‘not at all’ approach.

I saw that saying for the first time a couple of weeks ago. And to a degree it has some merit.

Empty vessels make most noise was a comment teachers used a lot when I was at school. This is an extension of that.

I'm sure you know this already, but maybe it bears repeating: Kaepernick started kneeling during the national anthem as a protest against the disproportionate use of police violence (including deadly violence) against black people in America. That's not a left-wing cause.

The reason he kneels (he used to sit down) is that as military veteran told him he considered it to be a respectful form of protest in front of the flag.

So what we have here is a gesture that's supposed to symbolise solidarity in the context of a society in which various forms of racial abuse are still prevalent, and was chosen specifically on the grounds that it's humble/respectful to the point that even a soldier who fought for the flag the guy knelt in front of considered it so.
