The sensible thing would be to give Spurs the win, as disappointing that may be to us.

Why?
If we can put out a Covid free squad, what’s the issue?
If Spurs don’t want to play, then let them forfeit and pay us compo for lost tv revenue etc.

I imagine the reason it hasn't been called off is down to horse trading behind the scenes. Orient won't want to lose the TV money, Spurs won't want to risk playing us and Sky won't want to show a reserves game. I think we'll end up being paid to forfeit.

Everything so depressing - now this.
Can’t hide from the fact that the club has totally f*cked things up and put their head in the sand.
To still rely on the Government’s pathetic outline of the symptoms of the disease is not acceptable. Maybe in Feb/March but not now.
It is widely known that the symptoms go beyond fever/cough/loss of taste.
The greatest symptom is fatigue - this has been highlighted by the club for over a week!

We need to show Spurs some respect and withdraw.
It would be unfair if any of their players or management contracted the virus due to our insistence on playing the match.
Also I think Spurs did a noble thing offering to pay for the testing.
I'm not so keen on this whole paying for opposition teams to be tested to be honest - it's surely got to be agreed to be done regularly by all EFL teams. At present you could end up with a big game between two teams fighting for promotion or relegation and one insists the other has tests and pays for them. Imagine if having done that the opposition then need to forfeit because of a number of positive tests, or rule out key players while they escape without any impact.

All very plausible.
Also factor in Spurs won’t give a monkeys about this game and are probably happy to forfeit themselves.

Yep. Most likely zep . If we can find and test 13 players that are negative even if the youth team we should be allowed to play. Spurs are allowed to play youth players and nothing in rules that says you have to field the strongest team.

Sounds like, from what I've heard, Spurs aint keen on playing the youth team; just in case they get infected. Can understand that, especially with the Europa League coming up.
Let Spurs forfeit the game then if they don't want to play.
Imagine the precedent that will set if certain teams refuse to play others on ifs, buts and maybes.
Could have a shout there. We keep hearing about their 'packed schedule' (waaah).
I'm sure they could do without another game each week and us being able to play Chelsea in a few weeks would be a massive boost for us.
Why should Spurs forfei the game? It is Orient who are unable to fulfill the fixture today.
Spurs are able to play. Orient have either no team available and or no ground to host the game.
Its bizarre to suggest the non defaulting side should forfeit

It’s not if they don’t want to play, it’s whether Orient can field a minimum squad that are covid free.
The only precedent set here is Orient are riddled with a highly infectious disease that wasn’t found until Spurs paid for the squad to be tested. There’s no ifs, buts or maybes about it.
Well, if we can put together a team of players who haven't been involved with the first team and we can get them tested and CAN field a team. If spurs then dont want to take the risk by playing that team then its them who are forfeiting, not us.
Exactly. Does everything need to be spelt out on here?
If Orient can't raise team - Orient forfeit.
If the authorities make a ruling - abide by ruling
If Orient can raise a team and the authorities give the OK but Spurs refuse to play - Spurs forfeit.
Spurs paying for the test is not a consideration. Other Premier teams have done the same for these cup games but really shouldn't have to do so.
What if the likes of Liverpool, Man United etc. refuse to play lower league teams on the basis that they may have players with COVID?
What if EFL teams refuse to play league games on the same basis?

Highlighted by all of the late goals they keep scoring.

The win win would be for spurs to lob us 150k in a legal method and us to forfeit.

They could buy a brick. OFF would love that.
Or maybe they could buy Sam Ling. They'd obviously need to stump up more than £150k to meet our valuation, but sure they can agree on something.

How do you know we (Orient) are unable to fulfill (sic) the fixture?
If we can get a squad of covid free players together, which I would expect us to be able to do, then the game is on.

I can see Spurs forfeiting, Sky going somewhere else tonight, and us being promised that the Chelsea game will be on tv so we get our money from that.

Firstly, at present Orient don't have a venue for the game as Brisbane Road is closed according to the club.
Then depending on how many players have Covid 19, it is unlikely the club can name enough REGISTERED players to fulfill the fixture. The youth team players even if not isolating are likely to be not registered for this competition
In any event, where is the suggestion Spurs are unable to fulfill this fixture today.

Lots of guesswork and assumptions in there Spen - that we don't have enough players, that the ground will be shut tonight.

Given that Orient themselves said the ground is closed until further notice and there has been no further notice...its a reasonable certainty the ground is closed.

Why not?
We don't actually need to get them tested, if that's the concern.

So you agree that I am correct when I say that Orient do not have a venue to play at. The fact the situation may ( very very unlikely though it is) change does not change the fact that at the time I typed it Orient do not have a venue to play at
