Re: Bankrupt councils
When I was between 7 and 9 years old we lived in semi-rural Essex. I remember at the time that school buses were a normal feature. They kept us safe from being abused on the streets, so that we could be abused by the older kids on the bus instead. It was character building stuff. Bring 'em back, I say.

Re: Bankrupt councils
They could have given the parents of these kids ten grand each to drive their own kids to school and it would've been cheaper. How have they managed this?

Re: Bankrupt councils
Leave the scotch school kids alone. I'd like to see any of you lot try and walk a mile to school after a bowel of cornflakes in buckfast for breakfast.

Mate, that was 45 years ago. Things have changed considerably since then.Dunners wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 11:14 am When I was between 7 and 9 years old we lived in semi-rural Essex. Private businesses are opening new schools for SEND kids at a rate of one every five days.
They then charge councils fees of up to £350,000 per kid to attend these. Spending on these private schools has risen 300% in eight years.

With all kids being classed as having special needs these days they'll be able to close down all the state schools as no one can go to them anymore.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:09 pm Private businesses are opening new schools for SEND kids at a rate of one every five days.
