The BBC subtitle text interpreted it as "resisting Israeli forces".

I've since read explanations that this is an interchangeable term. But, whatever it is, it is clearly an editorial choice by the BBC which they have never explained or signaled through public policy.
Doesn’t the word jihad literally translate as struggling against? I will obviously bow to your greater knowledge of Arabic if that’s wrong.

Probably because most of them are dead.

I don't remember this much of a furore when Nigel Lawson, a minister in the Conservative party (not currently proscribed as a terrorist organisation by the US or UK government) allowed his daughter to run riot within the BBC with her crappy output?

To be fair if its a Hamas adherent saying it then for them it is a battle for their homeland and defence of their religion. So they are likely to view it as a "Jihad against the jews" much in the same religio-fascist way the Israeli government see their Genocide.

Lyse Doucet came under fire for the same translation a few years ago and defended it on the basis that in context the person meant Israeli not Jew. The complaint was dismissed by the bbc on the grounds that translation should reflect the context. There's a fair chance that'll all be dredged up again.

There seems to be some argument about whether the kids dad was a minister or just worked in the ministry of agriculture, which is a pretty big difference, but it would be daft to think that a film shot in Gaza would not have involved people connected to Hamas. The BBC have f*cked up by not doing their homework before it aired, there was always going to be a concerted effort to discredit it and get it pulled, a few minutes introduction at the beginning of why it is impossible to get a truly impartial account of a warzone maybe would have done it.

I have no recollection of El Tel ever sporting a beard. I like it. A lot.

BBC chairman says Match of the Day should show fewer highlights and more analysis.

Honestly feels like they're doing this on purpose. Flies in the face of every poll going - including YouGov today and their own website - and it's what, a year, since it literally had only football and no commentary or analysis when they all walked out and everyone thought it was great. Similar to Labour, they just seem hell-bent on annoying everyone, even those who might be inclined to defend them. I barely even watch it now but such a ludicrous position has really annoyed me.

Is that to save money on acquiring the rights to broadcast the highlights? Or is it because the corporation has been captured by the wokerati?

"How to earn more in the BBC’s top ranks: ‘Don’t be straight, white or male’

National broadcaster pays senior managers more if they are female, disabled or from LGBT or ethnic minority backgrounds

Can't see the Telegraph article but I wonder I'd it's one where they print straightforward lies in the headline and then the data in the article goes on to contradict it. Its not really a newspaper these days.
