100%. It's very amateurish from the Treasury.Dunners wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 6:33 am I agree with Lilico that interest rates have been too low for too long. But that was also for political convenience too. So blaming the central bank is pure scapegoating.
If HM Treasury wanted to pursue a course of action that would make the UK an outlier from the G7, they should have had the foresight to coordinate with the BoE so the latter was able to factor that into it's plans.
I think he was being taken to task above about his lack of interest in equality.Adz wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 11:45 pm He's also right. Central banks around the world have gamed the system to keep inflation low by adjusting the basket to suit their means. IMHO inflation baskets need to be split out on what you need and what you want, and then you can get a real view of the cost of living. But that's not in the central banks interest.
They couldn't coordinate. The BofE wanted no part in crashing the economy as part of a far right project. It's also why the top civil servant at the Treasury was sacked in advance.Adz wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 8:04 am100%. Maybe she's just thick?Dunners wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 10:12 am Also, for anyone else following this; Liz truss has repeated a false claim that her energy price cap means that £2,500 is the maximum any family will pay on their energy bills this year.
This is not true. It is an outright lie. £2,500 is the typical amount an average household will pay as a result of the cap, but if you use less or more then you will pay less or more.
How can something this basic still be getting misrepresented?
You would have thought the free press and independent media would be all over this pointing out the lie. For some weird reason it goes unchallenged.Dunners wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 10:12 am Also, for anyone else following this; Liz truss has repeated a false claim that her energy price cap means that £2,500 is the maximum any family will pay on their energy bills this year.

But they're all coming out with it on their media rounds this morning. It's clearly a pre-prepared talking point on their notes. It's a pre-prepared and deliberate lie.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 10:37 amMaybe she's just thick?Dunners wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 10:12 am Also, for anyone else following this; Liz truss has repeated a false claim that her energy price cap means that £2,500 is the maximum any family will pay on their energy bills this year.

I calculate mine will come in at £2,456 after the free 400 bangers from Liz. That's quite a lot of money and saving on the heating means we will be sitting about the house wrapped up like Michelin men watching are Bargain Hunt and Homes under the Hammer.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 10:48 am Clip I just listened to she did use the phrase 'typical energy bill', I guess thats right.
An old thickie I spoke to recently complained that the energy cap wouldnt affect him as his bill would never reach £2500 anyway.
They 100% don't put up with this shi-t. Electricity is almost half the price per unit there compared with the UK.Orient Punxx wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 10:42 am The French wouldn’t put up with this shi t! It’s amazing how compliant us Brits are.
Good question. I guess the biggest risk of moving there is bumping into you & Dunners all the flaming time!TRUMP Plumbing wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 2:10 pm If you love France so much, why don't you move there, git.
