That was a bit of a shock to me, didn't realise he'd been ill for a couple of years

Growing up in a bit of a rubbish era of English cricket, Thorpe was one of the few genuinely world class batsmen we had in that period. Was a wonderful batsman and his openness about his struggles with mental health was very ahead of it's time.

Maybe not his proudest moment but the Windies England series in 2000 was what got me into the sport and I'll never forget Walsh bowling this against him, which might still be the most coolest bits of pace bowling I've ever seen.

Sad. Similar to above, he was a bright spot in a pretty awful team when I first got into cricket and he was of no age

Devastating news, and especially so for the family as they come to terms with this.

"Graham Thorpe’s wife Amanda has revealed the former England batter took his own life due to depression and anxiety."

Delon continued to be idolised by Moz even to including clips of him in his more recent pre-gig films. Which, considering Delon's support for nationalism and Le Pen, is understandable.

Pioneer of the daytime chat show format Phil Donahue has died peacefully at home aged 88.
I used to like his show in the 80’s. Pity ott stuff like Springer became the vogue.

Sven - he played his cards with some grace and dignity. Touching that his dying wish was to manage Liverpool, which was granted to him. Will always recall that 5-1 thrashing of Germany in Munich.

I see that it was recently confirmed that British hostage Nadav Popplewell has died aged 51. He had been held in capivity in the terrorists' tunnels underneath Gaza since 7 October 2023. May he (and his older brother Roy who was murdered by Hamas) rest in peace.

Brian Trueman, creator of Dangermouse, aged 92. Genuinely my favourite programme as a kid. Brilliant on so many levels.

Just read he was also behind Count Duckula, Jamie and the Magic Torch and Chorlton and the Wheelies. That's some body of work.

Count Duckula had one of the best theme tunes ever.

RIP Brian Trueman.
