He left the area in the 90's and we've been predominantly going to away games all of my life, so finding this forum was a great way for him to reconnect with the fanbase. This forum was always a little bit of fun for him and he loved telling me and my sister the post-match verdict/ratings from other fans.

I know it's a bit cheesy, but I'd like to sincerely thank this forum for being a net positive in my Dad's life. You all matter, you all genuinely have an effect on each other's lives and I genuinely wish you all the best.

Oh, Pevans

He was one of the handful of nice boarders on this forum. It's a much poorer place for his absence.

I've checked the spreadsheet and you are indeed correct. You first posted the pevans phrase. Maxy's trying to steal your thunder which, given your performance in recent years, you'd be advised to defend robustly.

To be fair, given maxs performance in recent years, I’ll let him have it x

Oh, pevans!

Firstly, thank you for letting us know about this sad news. As has been said, your dad was well known on here. While acclimatising himself to forum etiquette, he had a few jokes go over his head, which led to the creation of the "oh, pevans" meme. Something he fully embraced in the spirit it was intended.

He also had his own opinions on various issues, which we was happy to defend and argue for when necessary. But always in a polite and respectful way. Most of us will not have known him in person, but he came across a thoroughly decent person and is missed. I am sorry for your loss.
Well said Dunners, I'm sure we would all agree.

A sad loss for the Evans family.
A well liked Exiled O

I can only second all the things already said here about James. He always came across well, and I’m saddened to hear of his passing.

Not here as much as I used to be so have only just seen this.

Just like to echo others sentiments. Didn’t know him personally but he always came across as a genuinely nice guy. Sincere condolences to your family and all who knew him.

A line from back in the day from Bob Newhart that really caught my funny bone: he is at a party when he is introduced to a psychic…

”Hey Bob, come and meet Bill, he’s a medium.”

“How do you do?” Bob replies…”I’m a large.”

We'll not see the like of them ever again. Such memories and joy, dancing and singing along to their songs.

The pop songs of that era largely spoke of innocence, hope and harmony.

Sad to hear about pevans passing, and also surprised, I always pictured him as a bloke in his early 20's

Saw the Four Tops last year at the O2 including Duke Fakir who did a great solo but needed a stool to rest on.
He said then that this would be his last ever visit to the UK.
He admitted that he didn’t have a great voice but of course it wasn’t apparent when you have guys like the great Levi Stubbs in the lead role.
RIP Duke

Ah, no! If I was older, I'm pretty sure I'd remember him DJing at AWOL at the Paradise Club in the early 90s, and us all dancing away all night with nothing but a bottle of water for company.

2. He was a great Assitant Manager on Football Manager for the last few years. RIP Craig, you helped me win a lot :(
