Oh, PevansOnepostanddone wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 3:06 pm Don't necessarily know if this is the right place to post it, but my Dad who posted under the username 'jamespevans' passed away last year on 30/07/2023. He left the area in the 90's and we've been predominantly going to away games all of my life, so finding this forum was a great way for him to reconnect with the fanbase. This forum was always a little bit of fun for him and he loved telling me and my sister the post-match verdict/ratings from other fans.
I know it's a bit cheesy, but I'd like to sincerely thank this forum for being a net positive in my Dad's life. You all matter, you all genuinely have an effect on each other's lives and I genuinely wish you all the best.

Almost certainly, Pevans name is of my doing.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 4:04 pm Very sad to hear this. My condolences to thr family. A decent guy on here and I believe I can claim the meme.
I've checked the spreadsheet and you are indeed correct. You first posted the pevans phrase. Maxy's trying to steal your thunder which, given your performance in recent years, you'd be advised to defend robustly.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 5:37 pmAlmost certainly, Pevans name is of my doing.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 4:04 pm Very sad to hear this. Firstly, thank you for letting us know about this sad news. As has been said, your dad was well known on here. While acclimatising himself to forum etiquette, he had a few jokes go over his head, which led to the creation of the "oh, pevans" meme. Something he fully embraced in the spirit it was intended.
He also had his own opinions on various issues, which we was happy to defend and argue for when necessary. But always in a polite and respectful way. Most of us will not have known him in person, but he came across a thoroughly decent person and is missed. I am sorry for your loss.

Didn't realise who you meant for a moment there, but RIP.
Not here as much as I used to be so have only just seen this.Onepostanddone wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 3:06 pm Don't necessarily know if this is the right place to post it, but my Dad who posted under the username 'jamespevans' passed away last year on 30/07/2023. We'll not see the like of them ever again. Such memories and joy, dancing and singing along to their songs.
Saw the Four Tops last year at the O2 including Duke Fakir who did a great solo but needed a stool to rest on.
Ah, no! If I was older, I'm pretty sure I'd remember him DJing at AWOL at the Paradise Club in the early 90s, and us all dancing away all night with nothing but a bottle of water for company.
