New series of Day of the Jackal is, to my surprise, good. It doesn't try to recreate the film, but is a short series influenced by the book. I've watched three of the five episodes, so hopefully it doesn't tank in the final two, but so far this one is recommended.

Started it yesterday. Really enjoying it, though could do without the tired “can’t get to parents evening” trope

There's quite a few tropes in there, but I just accept that as part of the course, nowadays.

I think I shall watch Day of the Jackal then. Always liked the film.

From reviews it seems like Gladiator II may be not sh*t. :)

I'm 3 or 4 episodes in now and very much enjoying it. Agree about the - shared - "work stopping me being a good parent" thing. Also a little bit put off by the Mission Impossible latex mask thing, but I'll let it slide.
