We know they are a horrible team to play against but we are so naive . We let them boss us around .Although Happe was right to get a second yellow I noticed several of their players were surrounding the ref straight away giving him verbal . They are very clever at getting at the ref and at players . We fell into their trap today.

To be fair, plenty of teams do this, not just FGR. But they are Good at it. It’s not that they are a dirty team hacking players down, they niggle, jostle, agitate, annoy. Just enough to get away with it most of the time. And they got to us from the start, destroyed any rhythm we had and made us look like muppets. And took all 3 points.

Player for player they are not that much better than us. Yesterday in approach they were light years ahead of us. I dare say laughing all the way home on the coach enjoying a job well done.

Frustrating.

The difference between the two teams yesterday could be viewed in pretty simple terms.

They kept their shape at all times
Well drilled in how they play
Knew our weakness so their homework was done well
Worried at the dark arts rather well although annoying

They are not better man for man nor as a footballing team. However, when you put the above together its enough to beat us yesterday especially as we never really looked like scoring.

Look I don’t know how good or bad Sam ling is
But he was England C full back

But this post made me smile and that rarely happens reading this forum

I like the name “ Kim Ling Un” in this post as a jaundice joke - but I guess it rather degrading so I should not of smiled

Ling junior - this guy was given a unfair ticket by signing at a club with his dad as DOF

It’s ok to say the signing did not have the DOF active in the process but that is a shame and irrelevant as a statement

The player deserves better and I really can’t see how he can make a pleasant career at his work with his dad as DOF - his dad may be the best DOF in the land ( excluding fletcher story ) but it’s like a poisoned chalice both at the same club - bad idea in the first place
What?

All of this.

I said yesterday that most games you can see that player for player, we are better than the opposition. That’s regardless of the result or how we’ve played.

Against FGR that wasn’t the case. Players were pretty evenly matched* but they were so much more of a team.

* I thought they weren’t all that up top but that could have been due to Happe and Tunji playing well, and also their keeper was an untried kid that we didn’t test.

I also have no issue with their approach. People moaning about it sound like they’ve got a massive dose of sour grapes.

It’s just professionalism.
