Mr Neil Peart, the greatest drummer I’ve ever seen, dead from brain cancer, RIP .

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a Rush lp, nor can I think of one song of theirs off the top of my head. Just imagined they’d be a bit too AOR for me. May e it was the long hair and moustaches that put me off. Yet they are v popular and well respected by many musos, so maybe I should have a listen.

Re: Births Deaths And Marriages
My musical taste suggests that I should like Rush but I don't, although I think Tom Sawyer is a decent track. They were excellent musicians and a very well liked band and a lot of my friends like them.
RIP Neil Peart.

Re: Births Deaths And Marriages
I’ll give it a try, softee.
I see Sultan Qaboos of Oman has died. Probably the least repressive of the Gulf States, and geographically and culturally much more interesting than Saudi or the UAE. Us colonial Brits had our hands all over it, of course, because of its strategic position on the oil tanker route - and before that, the India trade sea-lanes - with our special forces involved in the coup that saw Qaboos take power from his dad. Worth watching to see if Oman continues its pragmatic broker position between the other Gulf states and Iran.
