Sid’s obsession with Swift is baffling.
Well the daily news is so much about her concerts and her Swifty fans who follow her the world over, so I just compare her act to the many devoted fans of various pop groups, now Oasis in the news. I think Taylor Swift is a very poor act and yet another of the present crop of ''Pretty Girl'' singers that prance around on stage performing tuneless songs with repetitive lyrics. Long time since any musical groups caught me attention and I hardly listen to any popular music now. I like listening to and watching some of the present day classical musicians though, especially the pianists and violinists.

Is she really always in the news?
Obviously her name featured a lot with that tragic incident up north the other week, but otherwise, no.
I think you’re bit of a fan.

The video I posted on here was the first time i have seen her act, pretty awful to me. I just dont get it why these young fans get so hysterical about pop music acts especially if the actual music itself is rubbish as in her case. I can only guess that it is the excitement of going to a concert with many other fans and the presentation that gets them so excited, surely cant just be the quality of the actual music itself ?

Which music from the year 2024 do you like?
I dont listen to hardly any on radio and tv so probable little or none.
Those that I do hear seem to have poor repetitive lyrics and have little to no melody. Doubt they will be sung, performed, remembered etc in years to come. The mind boggles When you think that the genius composer Beethoven composed some of his best music compositions when he was stone deaf and none of the modern day studios and electronic music gadgets to help him !!

You know that you’re posting “doubt they will be performed in years to come” on a thread about a band of whom exactly that was said thirty years ago?
You do realise that, 65 years into the existence of pop music, it’s demonstrably true that people don’t actually grow out of the massive artists they love, and that most of the biggest acts from each decade both keep their old fans *and* attract a new generation of fans?
Taylor Swift is massive, and yes, her fans will still love her music in years to come.
And Cruel Summer is a stone cold classic of a pop song. Which lyrics did you think particularly bad? And what’s an example of a good lyric?

We don't say deaf any more Squids. We say hearing impaired as the geezer at Mrs Golds hearing test pointed out to me last week. HTH.
FWIW I'm not a big fan of Swifts sweet harmonious warbling but I can see why men might like her. I also like the way she stands up against the music industry's exploitation of artists.

We do say deaf. There’s a very politically minded Deaf community that actively embraces the term

The lyrics to Cruel Summer are complete nonsense and gibberish.
Good lyrics, well The Sound of Silence.

Which lyrics specifically do you think don’t make sense?
Fever dream high in the quiet of the night
You know that I caught it
Bad, bad boy
Shiny toy with a price
You know that I bought it
Killing me slow, out the window
I'm always waiting for you to be waiting below
Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes
What doesn't kill me makes me want you more
And it's new, the shape of your body
It's blue, the feeling I've got
And it's ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
It's cool, that's what I tell 'em
No rules in breakable heaven
But ooh, whoa oh
It's a cruel summer
With you
Hang your head low
In the glow of the vending machine
I'm not dying
You say that we'll just screw it up in these trying times
We're not trying
So cut the headlights, summer's a knife
I'm always waiting for you just to cut to the bone
Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes
And if I bleed, you'll be the last to know
Oh, it's new, the shape of your body
It's blue, the feeling I've got
And it's ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
It's cool, that's what I tell 'em
No rules in breakable heaven
But ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
With you
I'm drunk in the back of the car
And I cried like a baby coming home from the bar (oh)
Said, "I'm fine, " but it wasn't true
I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you
And I snuck in through the garden gate
Every night that summer just to seal my fate (oh)
And I screamed for whatever it's worth
"I love you, " ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?
He looks up grinning like a devil
It's new, the shape of your body
It's blue, the feeling I've got
And it's ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
It's cool, that's what I tell 'em
No rules, in breakable heaven
But ooh, whoa, oh
It's a cruel summer
With you
I'm drunk in the back of the car
And I cried like a baby coming home from the bar (oh)
Said, "I'm fine, " but it wasn't true
I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you
And I snuck in through the garden gate
Every night that summer just to seal my fate (oh)
And I screamed for whatever it's worth
"I love you, " ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

Paul Simon had great lyrics, it's true.
A man walks down the street
He says, "Why am I soft in the middle now?
Why am I soft in the middle?
The rest of my life is so hard
I need a photo-opportunity
I want a shot at redemption
Don't want to end up a cartoon
In a cartoon graveyard"
Bonedigger, Bonedigger
Dogs in the moonlight
Far away, my well-lit door
Mr. Beerbelly, Beerbelly
Get these mutts away from me
You know, I don't find this stuff amusing anymore
If you'll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
I can call you Betty
And Betty, when you call me
You can call me Al

On the subject of song lyrics this one always reminds me of this MB:
People you love
Will turn their backs on you
You'll lose your hair, your teeth
Your knife will fall out of its sheath
But you still don't like to leave
Before the end of the movie
People you hate
Will get their hooks into you
They'll pull you down, you'll frown
They'll tar you and drag you through town
But you still don't like to leave
Before the end of the movie
No, you still don't like to leave
Before the end of the show.

Given the queue to get into the site to queue and the fact each date is currently still sitting at around 220k in the queue an hour after tickets went on sale I reckon ten Wembley dates would’ve been feasible

Been in the Q since 08:30, 3 hours later, I’m still in Q and not even half way, and that’s just to get on site!
Absolutely no chance of getting tickets
