Gary Lineker and 500 assorted "Artists for Palestine" have demanded that the BBC reinstate its pulled pro-Hamas Gaza documentary "Gaza: How to Survive a Warzone".

https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/entertainmen ... ntary-bbc/

Last week, the BBC apologised after it emerged that the film's child narrator is the son of Ayman Alyazouri, who has worked as Hamas's deputy minister of agriculture.

But, as Lineker and the others pointed out, the boy's Dad is just a middle-ranking Hamas official working as a civil servant, it's not as though he's a gun-toting terrorist, and his story should be told.

The story should be told and heard on the BBC. It the truth.

Yes, the BBC's and Hamas's version of the truth (which are very often the same thing).

BBC and Labour both falling into the same trap of lurching right to try and appease whackos like faldO and still being hated anyway, while having burned most of their bridges with reasonable people along the way.

That's an interesting take...and you call me a whacko!!

Are you one of the "reasonable people"? We should know.

As someone sane enough to still recognise that the BBC are very much the opposite of The Voice of Hamas, yes I am.

If the BBC were intent on giving a fly on the wall documentary about the life of a Hamas Minister’s family then they should have given it a light hearted but honest name

I’d suggest “At home under the Hamas”

Don't you mean "The Voice of Hamas" (proscribed as a terrorist organisation by many Western governments, including the UK).

I doubt you've even read the story about the documentary - only noted that those you perceive to be far right (ie everyone you disagree with) are not happy with it and so you immediately take the contrary view.

If you had read it you might see that there is at least a some merit to the complaints about the documentary that need investigating. Which is what the BBC have agreed to do and in the meantime have removed it from iPlayer. Ofcom are also keeping a close eye on the matter (though I suppose they're captured too in your view of the world).

Something else you're wrong about, quite the hit rate.

BBC review finds 'serious flaws' over Gaza documentary

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c07zz5937llo

The review has identified serious flaws in the making of this programme. Some of these were made by the production company, and some by the BBC; all of them are unacceptable. BBC News takes full responsibility for these and the impact that these have had on the Corporation’s reputation. We apologise for this.

These flaws include being lied to by the production company in Gaza about the true identity of the boy narrator, (son of a Hamas official) and the production company admitting that they paid the boy's mother.

There will now be an independent review into why the documentary was allowed to air in the first place.

Wonder what Gaza Lineker has to say about it now?

Is the documentary made by people linked to Hamas biased?

Right, but is there something particularly untrue in it?

One of my highlights was how the BBC chose to interpret some of the script. In one clip a young girl is shown mentioning "jihad against the jews".

The BBC subtitle text interpreted it as "resisting Israeli forces".

I've since read explanations that this is an interchangeable term. But, whatever it is, it is clearly an editorial choice by the BBC which they have never explained or signaled through public policy.

Dont know about you but l still feel it was important to hear from voices that haven’t been represented on screen throughout the war with dignity and respect and to tell the story about the devastating impact of war on their everyday lives.

I agree. We definitely have not heard from these voices whatsoever.
