The ice skating Adam Johnson, oh god what an awful thing. I saw footage before I knew what the story actually was. Jesus Christ.

What actually happened? Have studiously avoided the footage after hearing it's pretty harrowing - hit with a puck or something?

The footage I've seen suggests that he was kicked in the throat by an opposing player. It was horrific.

The other player just happened to rasise his leg so that the blade from a skate was in front of his throat, and he proceeded to hit said skate with his throat. So yeah, hardly a kick.

Freak accident but shows what dangers lurk in some sports and why footballers should not play recklessly. In the old days with metal studs , even at school there were some nasty injuries and my legs are proof with scars plentiful. God forbid you forgot your kit or you really did end up dressed on the pitch like Billy in Kes . The teaching staff issued you , no doubt for a laugh amongst themselves with the most outrageous ancient kit they could lay their hands on to ridicule their victim. All that was shown in Kes football scenes I could relate to.

Terrible how some people in media cannot handle stardom. Just listening as to how he used to go house hunting so he could try still prescription drugs from bathroom cabinets and other places. I have never watched the programme but saw a box set in charity shop last week, I’ll go see if still there today . I like that Jessica actress , very attractive lady.
Sad as it is in any tragedy, when people spend half of their life on drugs hardly a surprising outcome.

That hockey player- not an accident at all, he intended to hurt him.
I dont know a lot about hockey, but having a bit of a ruck seems to be part of the game.

I'm not going to share any of it on here, but there's actual a load of stuff on social media about how this is a media conspiracy to cover up racist black on white crime. We're so f*cked.

It is a strange sport ice hockey. The puck travels so fast it is difficult to follow. To compensate for this, fighting is almost encouraged. (No, I do not know what I am talking about.)

I was privileged to meet Frank Borman at a reception following a tree planting ceremony in the arboretum, at Sir Stuart Mallinson's home 'The White House', in Woodford Green, back in the early 70s - which is now the building where Haven House Children's charity is based

That is a very interesting building and the gardens are full of trees planted by some quoted noted famous and influential people bomber the years. It would seem that Col Mallinson was very well connected indeed. There are trees there from former US presidents , Royalty and such. I think he had connections with the local private school nearby also.

He's not dead yet, but Shane MacGowan's health appears to be rapidly deteriorating. He's been in hospital since June or July, and every time a photo appears he is looking more gaunt. This is the latest photo from Victoria. There's suddenly a lot of people making an urgent effort to visit him which could be an ominous sign.
