Speaking only for myself. It's because it overshadows and beats hands down anything Alan Partridge has done.

It's because the left in general have given up winning elections.

They therefore seek solace in little wins like sticking it to Andrew Neil by bullying Social media interns into cancelling their advert subs. Likes and retweets on Twitter are a nice consolation to actual power to left these days
