But I'm right he didn't vote against his own party like you incorrectly stated.Disoriented wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 5:25 pmNo. If the government was Labour, he was being disloyal. Ha, are you saying Jeremy Corbyn has never voted (multiple times) against his own party?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 5:34 pmBut I'm right he didn't vote against his own party like you incorrectly stated.Disoriented wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 5:25 pmNo. If the government was Labour, he was being disloyal. Re: Alastair Campbell expelled from Labour Party
I think you will find that when Labour was in government, he voted against his own party a total of 428 times!
Now THAT’S disloyalty.![😅](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f605.svg)

Spens accusation that he voted for another London mayoral candidate is a different matter, though.

I’m not aware of it but if he did as spen has suggested, that is the same thing.

Re: Alastair Campbell expelled from Labour Party
Tbh Dis, that’s what I find difficult to understand with the current Labour style. Corbyn was famous for not supporting his own party, thereby assisting other parties, 428;times, didn’t know the number. Yet the current party have little tolerance for people who do the same. hypocracy inthe extreme.Disoriented wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 5:41 pm I think you will find that when Labour was in government, he voted against his own party a total of 428 times!

Re: Alastair Campbell expelled from Labour Party
Not voting for his own party is in effect handing opposition parties a one vote head start. It is certainly helping other parties. Clearly whatever he as doing was sufficient for his actions to be considered by Blair.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 6:36 pm How many times did he vote for other parties, dohy?

Re: Alastair Campbell expelled from Labour Party
I wonder if there'll ever be a time when everyone understands the difference between voting for a party, and voting in the HoC?
(votes in the HoC are for or against a motion, not for or against a party however you try to spin it. The Labour rules are pretty clear in the wording)
Do carry on if it makes you all happy.

It's petty politics. If labour does not come out on the side of remain and sit on the fence and try to play both sides they will get a good kicking at the ballot box and they can only have themselves to blame.

No its not if he voted against his own party then it's a two vote advantage. Basic arithmetic and plain English are not your strong points.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 6:42 pmNot voting for his own party is in effect handing opposition parties a one vote head start. Re: Alastair Campbell expelled from Labour Party
Simple google will identify at least 7 occasions Corbyn voted with the Tories against Labour. Seven. That’s not abstaining but voting for the Tories against Labour. That’s Seven occasions where he could have been expelled.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 7:38 pmNo its not if he voted against his own party then it's a two vote advantage. So voting with the Tories against Labour in UK votes is OK then.

Re: Alastair Campbell expelled from Labour Party
Campbell doesn’t do things without thinking it through first. He knew what he was doing and he knew what would happen. I think there is a bigger picture being played out here, I could see a return for David Milliband and a return to the left of central ground.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 1:55 pmExactly.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 1:31 pmI think that Campbell knew exactly what he was doing when he made it Public that he voted Lib Dem in the EU election. I think he was making a statement that the current leadership does not reflect his own personal political views, so he took this action knowing full well that it would lead to being either suspended or expelled and also ignite big arguments within the Labour Party, on that score..JOB DONE !! No doubt that if in the future the Labour party moves back more towards the centre ground, he will then ( if allowed to ? ) apply to become a member again.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 12:48 pm Is it appropriate? Of course it is. See above - “A member of the Party who joins and/ or supports a political organisation other than an official Labour group or other unit of the Party, or supports any candidate who stands against an official Labour candidate, or publicly declares their intent to stand against a Labour candidate, shall automatically be ineligible to be or remain a Party member, subject to the provisions of Chapter 6.I.2 below of the disciplinary rules.”
If rent-a-gob had voted against Labour in the european elections and kept his big gob shut about it, no one would have been any the wiser and we wouldn't be having this ridiculous discussion. It's almost as if this is what he wanted to happen. Especially now some people seem to have forgotten what a c**t he was as he's now done a tv show about being depressed.

Re: Alastair Campbell expelled from Labour Party
Of course there’s a bigger picture. Dark forces are at play here. Someone has been sitting on the stuff with the nec bloke since January. No surprise that it’s released at the same time as the Campbell furore. It’s all done strategically.Thor wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 8:42 pmCampbell doesn’t do things without thinking it through first. It makes you wonder what else is being sat on and just how bad it’s going to get if a GE is called and it looks like Jezza will win.
