Re: Webb sacked
Spectacular contrast to the way the similar sounding incident involving George Elokobi was handled last year. The club had a brief statement setting out the situation issued within 48 hours! I’m surprised this has been allowed to drag on.

If Webb said a discouraging word against Embleton, then with Ling here, he was toast. Ross is like a son to Ling

Re: Webb sacked
The Head Boy complained to the Form Master who spoke to the Headmaster. If so it shows the Head boy is a poo poo who runs and tells everytime he can't handle anything, remember the Marc Cooper episode Embleflop ran to the Headmaster, who ducked because, it was all hearsay, Embleflop was a cry baby. Club getting form on this, remember Riza.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 1:01 pm If Webb said a discouraging word against Embleton, then with Ling here, he was toast. Ross is like a son to Ling
Martins finger prints over all of this. removing competition to Embleflop

Re: Webb sacked
to be fair to Embleton, he wasn't really involved in the row at all - he was passive spectator to most of it.
If I was being optimistic, I would wonder if the delay in making a statement is because the club is trying to broker some sort of mediation - but that's gonna take some doing.

Not with the manager, you don't.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 6:12 pm Bizarre if true. People square up week in week out in changing rooms. You forget it and are best mates at training on a Monday. Unless what was said was completely out of line.
Either way, is Ling the ‘experienced number 2’ Ross now has? He should be nowhere near the dressing room during or immediately after the game. Shades of Bullshitti.
And if you do - like with Big George - you go right away.

Who was Webb rowing with then, if not Embleton?OyinbO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 2:23 pm to be fair to Embleton, he wasn't really involved in the row at all - he was passive spectator to most of it.

Picture the scene: it's a bit like the double act of Sitton & Turner - with Webb taking the role of Sitton in this instance, bad cop to Embleton's good cop - at least as far as the players are concerned.
Turner went on to have a better career than Sitton though, so I'm not sure if the comparison will hold forever... time will tell!

You're perfectly welcome to disbelieve anything I am offering here. But that doesn't change its essential truth.

Re: Webb sacked
I heard he was sacked for suggesting that the first team go on a close-season tour spanning 5 continents, but Ling refused as he wants nothing to do with a World-Wide Webb

Interesting that Brill has taken DW place as first team coach , not keeper coach and he said he was approached by Ling before Christmas about an opportunity that might arise and how he saw Brills next move . That really does sound like a plot !OyinbO wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 6:54 pmYou're not a million miles away from it. He is the more accomplished and qualified coach. And - on this occasion - wasn't impressed to see how chuffed Embleton was by us poncing a late equaliser after what was - by and large - a gormless performance.
The players are probably relieved that this source of dressing room tension has been removed, but is that short-term uplift worth losing one of the people who thinks we should be doing better with the talent we currently have in our squad? Or are we all happy to settle into a nice comfortable and dreary "well at least we have a club, so we should be grateful for a few seasons bumbling around at the foot of League Two even though we have a top 8 budget and top 3 crowds" routine? Because I bet Kent Teague isn't.
So it's only a matter of time. It's simply a question of how many good people we lose between now and the inevitable.
Yet I thought the club really rated Webby , or someone there did

Re: Webb sacked
I wonder how many defeats that the club will have before the board realise that Ross is not the man for the job.He has been told that there is no chance of reverting back to no2. This must have great pressure on him. When you are under that pressure that previously was not there mistakes are made. Any other manager with his win ratio would have been sacked by now

Re: Webb sacked
Perfectly normal for a Sporting Director to go into changing room after the final whistle.
It will happen at most clubs & probably something that happened under JE as well.
I say probably because I know just about as much as everyone commenting on this thread.

Re: Webb sacked
Oyinbo said he was in there at half time. No way is that normal, that room is for the coaches and players only, no one else goes in there during game time. Afterwards yes, but not then unless ling is influencing more than we know.
Again we only have what oyinbo is saying.

Re: Webb sacked
Meantime our managerial unit becomes even less experienced , with two nice men , but complete management novices , learning a job together . Like having your car serviced as you drive it . Bizarre
I see Tim Flowers has left Solihull.
