Unless you are Mystic Meg , then I would suggest that only time will tell if the decision is “ terrible” or not. Hopefully you will at least give the bloke an opportunity to prove himself? As to better candidates being available then you may well be right, however we don’t know if they were interested in applying especially given the number of vacancies that have cropped up in the three weeks or so since RE decided to give notice.A lot of names have been bandied about on betting websites but unless you have inside knowledge we’ll never know who actually made the interview stage will we, because no one at the club is likely to divulge it.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 6:51 pm If Fletcher is chosen, it will be a terrible decision, but I guarantee the next day we will have a video from Ling, spouting the usual bollocks, in his dreary monotone voice justifying it

He ticks non of the boxes and almost certainly was not first or forth choice.

Re: Carl Fletcher
Did a bit of Googling on the role of loan manager. Crucial role in transitioning players from the U21s/23s to the first team. Helping players who are promising but not quite good enough for the Premier league to find playing experience and nurturing them through that process. Sounds to me like relevant experience for managing in League 2.

Re: Carl Fletcher
Im wondering how much the thing about having to work with the coaches already here , limited the choice
most managers will always want to chose their own staff, often people they know and trust, rather than have coaches foisted upon them

And this is everything wrong with some of the cretinous fan base we’ve got. Some fans have such short memories.
It’s still only just over 2 years ago we were a non league club been run into the ground with nothing to it’s name but a couple of corner flags. It’s a little over 4 months since we’ve lost the possibly the best manager this club has ever had in the most tragic of ways, plus lost our two best strikers.
And yet despite this, we sit pretty much in mid table, as a football league club in where attending matches again at Brisbane Road is a fantastic experience once again. And that’s largely down to what those upstairs have achieved and put in place at this great club.
But an online alias apparently knows better to brand it a ‘terrible decision’ before the guys even started

Re: Carl Fletcher
I admit that there were others that I would have thought had more to offer but again, I have no idea who actually applied ( as opposed to appearing in the betting) and I don’t know what “ boxes” T&T and Ling Snr wanted ticked - I only know what I thought made sense in the club’s current circumstances. Presumably the new man will be the person who most closely matches what the owners and DoF feel is the right template to take the club forward and if that’s Carl Fletcher then so be it. Whatever our concerns may be it seems to me we should be open minded and give the bloke a chance.Byways1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 7:31 pmThe chances are this is a terrible appointment.redintheface wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 7:28 pmUnless you are Mystic Meg , then I would suggest that only time will tell if the decision is “ terrible” or not. How long are you going to trade on this fella? At what point in your opinion can opposition towards club decisions be made? When does it not become ‘cretinous’? I am curious about this point, as I can envisage you posting in 2042 ‘It’s still just over 25 years ago we were a non league club been (sic) run into the ground with nothing to it’s (sic) name but a couple of corner flags.’Jman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 8:16 pm‘It will be a terrible decision”ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 6:51 pm If Fletcher is chosen, it will be a terrible decision, but I guarantee the next day we will have a video from Ling, spouting the usual bollocks, in his dreary monotone voice justifying it

Re: Carl Fletcher
I reckon we are still paying JE'S salary as im told we had no Keyman insurance in place. Obviously a lowish salary is on offer & would have put the likes of Adams, Parkindson from relocating. Fletcher is no doubt desperate for the job. Likeyly Porter has sounded out Charlie Daniels & Purches. I was told Gareth Barry had applied too. Would much have preferred SoL C. Potential Players would have respect for his playing career. Can you imagine Sol telling & helping our defenders to inprove at corners etc

No way would we be that amateur. But even if we did not,why would we pay his salary? Presumably Justin was a very wealthy man and would have had his own life cover in place. If the owners still wanted to pay the rest of his salary, of course that wouldn’t come out of the existing wage budget.

In 10 years time there will still be the Ling fanboys saying ‘how dare you, we were in the non-league 12 years ago’, you don’t have the right to criticise the board!
