Haven’t watched either game so far but hear that it’s more of the same bollocks we’ve had for years

Hungary will then break the Scottish hearts with a 90th min goal to send Scotland crashing out at the group stage of a major football tournament once again.

The press and pundits will all be, poor Scotland, so unlucky, blah blah blah

But realistically, in a tournament where you can just win 1 game and still qualify 3rd in a group of 4 teams, it’s harder not to qualify than it is to qualify.

So Scotland have failed and let their nation down and it should go down as a disastrous tournament.

Bye bye Scotland 👋
Have a nice flight home on Sun evening.
They need to discover England's secret. Play dogshit, but still qualify. Although, the fact that England always seems to find themselves in the weakest group helps

Surely that would be finishing second in the group and claiming it as a victory?

Spain long balling it from goal kicks is odd

Brilliant how Southgate has arranged the showdown with Germany 🤪.

Spain should have absolutely pumped them. Fantastic to watch but profligacy like that is going to bite them on the arse at some stage.

I always look forward to the Italian national anthem and how the players enthusiastically sing it. The best of all.

The penny has finally with people about Southgate including the so called pundits. Again setting up with so many defensive players and formations, Arnold doesn’t play for Liverpool in that position yet Southgate puts him there in a knockout comp.He said “we haven’t found a replacement for Phillips,so what does that tell you about his forthcoming set ups.He looked shocked when interviewed like a little boy lost.so when the FA come to there senses and get rid who will they replace him with. Lee Carsley. Yet another tw*t that will nod his head to the FA. No wonder so many people don’t follow the national side anymore.

England will never win anything under Southgate because he is just to defensively minded. When you see how some of the so-called minnows like Slovenia, Albania and Serbia play the game and then see how England are set up not to lose. The whole side is slow and turgid with absolutely no excitement value at all. Go Slovenia!

Couple of days ago I said Southgate wasn't up to the job.
Those who said the sun shines out of his arse, do you finally see he never has and never will have a clue.
Again 1-0 and sit back on the lead, even the master of defence Italians often failed with that tactic.
Plan B is substitutions on 65 minutes or thereabouts, never a change in formation.
Just go and let someone who has some idea of the modern game take over.
I got panned when he was appointed for saying we will never win anything with Southgate.
At the time a failed manager at Middlesbrough and only real claim to fame was missing a penalty, he just isn't a winner.

Oh it is and what a joy to behold. They've now even got a keeper who dives in instalments and who would walk straight into the Scotland No 1 spot.

I have to say that Southgate’s defenders on here are pretty quiet post-game.

It was obviously dreadful and he looks spent. I don't think that undoes being the first England manager to get to a final since 66 or the first semis since 96. Him having been good before but no longer fit for the role can both be true.

Can’t blame Southgate for elite players being unable to play simple 5 yard passes and show for their team mates.

Hard to defend England's performances so far in this tournament
The Haters and the Entitled certainly have the upper hand.
Here's to a performance that blunts the sharpened knives
Keep the faith

We go a goal up then sit deep and defend . We've been far too negative . Writhing was on the wall losing to Iceland in our last pre- tournament friendly .We'll scrap through the group then get knocked out in the first knock out game .

This shouldn't be a surprise though, Southgate's been playing like this for years.

The Spain/ Italy game, was a joy to watch. Football played at a good tempo, with great skill and technique.

England have no energy, and are way too deep.

England will go out when they meet their first decent opponents

If England do manage a podium finish I will tip my hat to him. But when he says “We have not found a replacement for Calvin Phillips…”
I for one would prefer to lose by the odd goal if we played exciting football rather than watch this current stuff….

Spain v Italy was only a joy to watch because of one team though, Italy were garbage and it's nonsense to hold them up as an example of how we should be playing right now. They've got as many issues as we have.

Also, not defending England/Southgate, but loads of people not really comparing like with like when saying "look at Albania/Georgia etc, they can play attacking football!". They don't have the same weight of expectation and sides aren't lining up against them in the same way teams play against us. Still nowhere good enough from England so far though and hard to see how it changes too much as the tournament goes on.
