Despite the disappointing result this evening it was a fantastic night . Congratulations to Nigel ,Kent , Richie plus all the players and everybody else connected with the club on getting us back to League 1 . . Also a special mention for Justin who built this platform for our future success . He'll forever be an Orient legend . I feel emotional tonight after all we've been through together since Wembley 2014 It feels fantastic to be back in League 1 . Now promotion is in the bag we have four games left to go on and try and win the league . COME ON YOU O's !!!

After the last 6 or 7 years we've had I'll take promotion back to League 1 anyway we can .ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 10:46 pm Ideally, you'd like to thrash a team, 5-0 at home, to win promotion, but I'll take the way we won it.
Best team in the league over 9 months, by far.
Now let's wrap up the championship
Back where we belong

Red......At the beginning of the season - yes. The mindset has changed since then. And as we have now been heading the table for almost the entire season to not finish top now would be a huge disappointment. Now, it's got to be the title !
That's what I want the record books to show:
'Leyton Orient 2022/3 div 2 Champions'.

Re: Exiles thread - Gillingham (A)
What a bizarre night.
The first 15 minutes were the same as the starts for the previous 3 or 4 games - Gillingham literally couldn't get near us. The players are all brimming over in confidence in not just themselves but each other. I'll go as far as to say that with the current first XI in their current form, L2 has never seen a better footballing side. It was looking like an other 2 or 3 nil stroll in the park.
At the time, I thought the red card was harsh. In my mind, Beckles was not last man and there were players around to cover but having seen it back, I was wrong and the decision was justified. Omar is the one punished but it was Turns who yet again let his man run off him and James who failed to come round and provide cover.
Credit to the players for their performance thereafter. We kept to our guns, and still tried to out play them with 10 v 11, and were the only side trying to play football. Special mention to George who put in a shift on Saturday and again tonight, it's just a shame it's taken him 40 games to gain full fitness. Someone needs to be on his case all summer, dragging him out of Vegas/Ibiza/Dubai or wherever he's planning on spending it and keeping him in shape, we're going to need him fully firing from the off in L1.
I'd also like to officially laugh at the pair of trappy Gills fans, one with the slicked back hair and the other in the grey sleeping bag style coat who were giving it to the away end at half time, then shat themselves after one O's fan took it upon themselves to sneak into the home end and give them a slap.
Otherwise, Gillingham were very hospitable in allowing us to hang around so long to celebrate, thank you.
