Meh. It's popular and has decent reviews, so I may be alone here, but it just lacked any emotional or intellectual depth. It's just not as clever as it thinks it is. It's just shouty women singing about how they don't really need men afterall. But the rest of the audience loved it.

If you're into the occasional mainstream West End production that doesn't require much use of your grey matter then I guess it'll do. But, in my opinion, there are better options available.

None. But I'm a poncey, metropolitan-elite, champagne-socialist, theatre bore. And I was definitely in the minority as being cynical and unimpressed.

It tries to present history (or "her-story" - get it? The audience certainly did judging by their hysterical laughter) through the perspective of the wives. But it does so without adding much to what most people would have gleamed from their GCSEs.

It's basically a manufactured girl band playing a set list that is contrived around the theme of being old Henry's wives. But I can't even remember a single song.

However, and I cannot stress this enough, it's popularity and critic reviews suggest that I'm a bit of a lone voice here.

Season 1 was the best reality tv there’s been in decades, I’d highly recommend a little binge. Genuinely hilarious throughout, with a couple of characters who are up there with the all timers from the good Big Brothers.

Are your mate’s initials AB & very active on e17 social media? I’d been following her for a while so she’s definitely my early one to support.

But yeah, honestly can’t recommend season 1 enough.
