Noooooo! That's a real shitter, especially at that age. Always seemed an absolutely top fella.

Sad news, but he had survived at least 3 heart attacks previously, so perhaps not as unexpected as could be.

Still he came across as a nice guy & reinvented himself from a drag act to a top TV presenter.

Gutted and Mrs NES is in tears, a really lovely man and a great Scouser to boot. RIP Lily/Paul.

Bloody hell, shocked by that. Came over as one of the few genuine and genuinely witty people on daytime tv.

RIP Paul/Lily obviously but I always thought he was a bit snarky. Just because you like dogs doesn’t make you nice. Look at Gervais.

On Daytime TV, that's not a very high bar

He was one of the best TV Presenters in recent years on either daytime or peak time TV in my view. He had a certain charm and people wanted to like him.

Very sad news. A warm person and great animal advocate. Enjoyed his travel programmes and his Sunday evening radio 2 show (sadly binned by the BBC) was often hilarious.

RIP.

Yeah, but O'Grady's snark was often directed at Tories, so you can understand why Conkles is bitter.

I know O’Grady’s had his heart issues, but this news has upset me. Which rarely happens with celebs.

Loved his Battersea TV stuff, and Lily Savage. I saw him compère at The Victoria Tavern in Vauxhall in the 80s, when I’d not heard of his act, but a couple of gay mates (one tried a half-arsed drag act themselves, though it never took off) took me along. The place had a rep as a bit of a meat market, but everyone I met was lovely and nobody pestered me. Savage was outrageously hilarious - one of the funniest live acts I’ve ever seen.

Whenever I’ve been in gay bars etc, I’ve also been struck by the respect shown to me by the gay community, who have always left me well alone and never attempted to hit on me at all. Their respect for my personal space while in a potentially sexually charged environment is second only to that shown to me by heterosexual women

Dame Edna and Lily Savage gone so close together. Mrs Brown is the only decent female comedian left.

Was never a fan of Dame Edna. Woke nonsense.

Gutted to hear of Sir Les Pattinson’s passing though
