Listened to Mark Kermode earlier giving it his review. He was at pains to point out that he was generally on board with the political and moral lecturing of it all, however even he had to concede that the film is just rubbish. As with all of these Disney remakes, the films would all be improved by simply not existing.

Having said that, I do think that Rachel Zegler is a talent. But she is very young and understandably naïve, so needs someone sensible to advise her on how to navigate the world of media journalism, and not rely on the Disney PR department (who have basically allowed her to be turned into a culture-war football).

Here's the Kermode review. Apparently Disney have sunk the best part of $500million into this stinker. And judging by the leadership changes at Disney, the shareholders have decided that the phrase "go woke/go broke" may have some truth to it.

I think the problem is the live action remakes have just all been utterly charmless.

Redknapp’s obviously a massive bellend but I think the guardian needs to not use (as it does in the links on the site) the phrase “appears to make a Nazi salute” to describe the two separate types of thing - one, where someone actually far right does a Nazi salute in a context where the intention would be to signify far right allegiance, and two, in a context where someone is stupidly wrongly joking that Germans are Nazis

That's fair. He was doing Basil Fawlty esque jokes - rightly or wrongly - yet the headline and opening paras make it sound like he was randomly going full-on Bannon/Musk.

I'm no expert on anything, let alone online media, but I believe it is called click bait.
