I've been following this guy for a while. He does get a bit ahead of himself from time to time but his major info seems to be legit.

The only difference being this new state to the east of Ukraine would rule itself.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 5:56 pmA bit like giving London to the EUHarlow wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 5:40 pm A recent report on BBC said that not all Ukrainians in the East welcomed being "freed". Are any domestic news outlets keeping up with this. I've been frightened to put on the main TV ones since Thursday evening.

Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
Not from what I've seen so far.
The Russian collapse is so rapid that they've abandoned their munitions and mechanised tech. In some areas UA forces are within walking distance of the Russian border. And with Izyum recaptured the supply lines for Russian forces in the South are seriously compromised.
This is looking serious for Putin. Even some of the more rabid mouthpieces on Russian telly are changing their tune and suggesting that he may be responsible.

Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
I'd agree that, while the current Ukraine gains are great, they are by no means the final act in this conflict which is likely to have plenty more twists and turns. I'd also agree that Russia still remains favourite to 'win' this war. But at what cost?
A complete defeat for Russia, while hugely gratifying, carries its own risks which NATO command is all too aware. First there is the risk that a destabilised Kremlin feels compelled to escalate.
Second is that other ex-soviet states will be tempted to commence hostilities against each other which Russia would have otherwise stamped out. And a lot of them are major exporters of oil, gas, minerals and other commodities that the rest of the world relies on. Already we're seeing Azerbaijan attacking Armenia, and there are now reports of attacks along the Kyrgyzstan/Tajikistan border.
I believe that the strategy remains to prevent Russia from being capable of progressing beyond Ukraine and therefore avoiding a hot war between them and a NATO member state. Win or lose, this must be Russia's last war.

I like listening to Scott Ritter on YouTube and he is a very knowledgeable speaker and commentator. It's good to get a pro-Russian spin, for an alternative perspective and opinion.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 10:32 am Oh well it was good while it lasted

He's been saying for months that Ukraine is taking unsustainable hits, whilst Russian hits are minimal and the Russian military knows exactly what it is doing, even in retreat. It takes a leap of faith to accept that 100%.
It's hard to imagine that Russia would allow Ukraine to retake the territory it lost in 2014, as that would represent a spectacular defeat for Russia.

"The Russian military, moreover, is staffed by officers of the highest caliber, who have undergone extensive training in the military arts. They are experts in strategy, operations, and tactics. They know their business."

I prefer FACTS rather than spin, so called alternative perspectives and opinion but that's just a personal choice.faldO wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 1:24 pmIt's good to get a pro-Russian spin, for an alternative perspective and opinion.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 10:32 am Oh well it was good while it lasted

Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
It looks like Russia is making steps towards general mobilisation. Not sure how that is going to work, but it could see a lot more recruits being thrown into the meat grinder.
The problem is that, if this form of escalation doesn't work for them, then there's only one other type of escalation left for them to consider.

Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
Putin has pretty much been ordered to end the war ASAP by Xi. Neither Xi nor Erdogan are too fussed about how that is achieved.

He's a bit late and just getting to it now. Partial mobilisation being confirmed. Rhetoric is all that this is now about defending Russia from the West.

Me too, to what does Putin refer? Any ideas?
This all reminds me of the Cuban thing some 60 odd years ago.
