Watched Into The Spider-Verse at Hammersmith Apollo with full orchestra, band and DJ scratching as the main instrument, performing the score.
Immensely enjoyable way to watch one of the best films of the last ten years (and definitely the best genre film)

Mrs FTC has been watching Bodies. I’ve tried but it’s utter bonkers to me but SWMBO says it’s good.

I'm up to the final episode, which I'll probably watch tonight. Some very strong acting performances but the plot is bonkers and, so far, appears to contain holes and sequences that just seem logical. However it may all pull it together for the final episode.

It's a good effort from British drama to try something different.

But, despite the focus being on Maxine, by the end I still didn't feel like I knew her anymore than when it started. Still, it's decent enough and as it's just a short three episode series, not much effort.

I do wonder what the families of the two murdered girls feel about this though. I did feel a bit uncomfortable with the subject matter being treated as entertainment.

Wasn’t convinced the makers knew what they were doing with this. Nobody can feel sorry for Maxine, so why make it? The families have been through enough. No new perspective is gleaned from this show.

The Long Shadow

It's an ITV drama staring just about every actor on their roster, about the Yorkshire Ripper murders between 1975 and 1980. It sets out to tell this story through the perspective of the women he murdered and how this affected their families and the community. And it does this really well. But, in doing so, it loses pace and momentum and doesn't capture the detail of the investigation. It also has a tendency to reduce the police involved in the investigation and manhunt into cartoon caricatures which, given some of their failings, risks letting them off the hook.

Harsh.

At last, the perspective of the victims is seen and heard.

The police WERE cartoon characters and if anything, the social prejudices they showed to the families were underplayed.

Quality drama.

I think it could've been a bit more thrilling. Our screening finished just before midnight, it was a bit of a struggle, although towards the end is the best part of the film. It was one paced and that speed is plodding.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Nicolas Cage goes meta, and it's brilliant. Seriously, if you want a funny, action film with a quirky sense of self depreciating humour, then give this a watch on Netflix.

Arsenal
Chelsea
Liverpool

Man City didn’t need him
Spurs would not sell to Arsenal or Chelsea (nor would Kane go to them)
Liverpool’s big money priority was Jude Bellingham and they couldn’t afford him.
That leaves only Man Utd.

Spurs were intending to charge a lot more from a club in England, on the basis that strengthening a rival while weakening themselves wasn’t ideal. So Manchester United would have had to pay around £150m for a player with a year left on his contract, which was never going to happen, especially while there was uncertainty around a takeover.

There was basically no way Kane was going to a premier league club

Watched last night on your recommendation. Really enjoyable, especially the references to Paddington 2 being the 3rd best movie of all time. Two places out but I'll take it.
