Heh.

I also see that another critic of the Russian invasion has "fallen from a window".

Gazprom has announced that Nord Stream 1 is to shut indefinitely.

Pray for a mild winter.

Is this going to hurt Russia more than its customers? If so, does Putin give a damn?

He's rolling the dice that liberal democracies will implode before illiberal autocracies.

I'm like you I can hardly wait for the second American Civil war to kick off. Let's just hope there are no nukes involved.

Once the military are recalled from the 800 overseas bases they have to help out at home freedom is within the grasp of the rest of the world.

Exactly. Then we can get back to the way things used to be.

News starting to emerge that the Ukrainian counter-offensive may have been a spectacular success. The news blackout is still in place, but lots of stuff on reliable OSINT channels of severe Russian casualties, a near-collapse of defenses in some areas, and even the abandonment of Izyum and Liman.

If this continues it could have serious implications back in the Kremlin. And Stop the War will be fumin'.

It has been remarkable. What Putin does next is anyone's guess.

Confirmed: Izyum recaptured. Now Ukrainian troops are even attacking Donetsk airport. The Russian line appears to be collapsing. This should be the lead item on the news right now.

Under normal circumstances, yes.

This is starting to look more and more like a complete collapse of Russian forces in the Kharkiv region. Every hour there are reports of Russian troops leaving a new town.

Personally, I see Russia as more dangerous at this moment than any time in the last seven months. They are crippled both militarily and economically and running very low on options.

This won’t end with Putin just graciously accepting defeat.

After all these disasters I'm surpisred Putin is still in power . His next move could be suicide .Preferably his own but he could be mad enough to launch a nuke .

A recent report on BBC said that not all Ukrainians in the East welcomed being "freed". My layman's impression is that a separate new state in the East would be the best solution. That would perhaps give the Russians and the pro Russian peoples a decent result although it would not obtain justice for war crimes. Borders have always been flexible so no reason why that could not happen

More info now being released and confirmed. The Ukrainians have pushed beyond Kharkiv and are now into the Luhansk region. Surely this can only be happening if Russian forces are abandoning their posts?
