Fair enough, though it doesn't detract from the legitimacy of concerns over the answer given, including those from many women who feel their rights are being eroded.
Do you think these women who claim to have had their rights eroded are being a bit snowflake like. They need to turn their attention to men who are their real oppressors.

Focusing their wrath on a few trans women is a sideshow. They are a minority who are also oppressed

Millennial Snowflake wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2020 8:41 am The issue is Labour having no idea how to deal with the interests of two ‘minority groups’ it supports (women and trans ppl) colliding, and ultimately doing nothing for fear of offending anyone

It’s not transphobic to question where the line should be drawn on trans rights. Stating that men who say they’re women should be tried as women isn’t supporting trans people, it’s mental

No idea how you concluded that the woman asking the question seemed like a willy, but there you go

The way she kept smugly glancing back to her camera, then got a strop on when she didn’t like the answer given, putting her coat on to leave before Nandy had even finished.

I’m not querying her right to ask the question, or debate the answer. Just saying she seemed like a smug willy.

How many trans women are there that are standing trial, out of interest?

Just not sure if you understand how stupid you sound when politics is afoot.

Is the labour party tearing itself apart? That's a genuine question.

On the right we have the blairites who say that labour can't ever be elected whilst it follows far left politics.

On the left we have the corbynistas who number far more than the blairites.

So where does the party go. That's today's question.

The right wingers are tearing the party apart, yes. As they have been since 2015. Glad you've finally caught up.

Re Abbott stepping down. Think that’s a good thing - pretty sure she’s got some degenerative illness (Parkinsons?) and probably shouldn’t have even stood for re-election to parliament. The dogs abuse she’s taken the last few years has been shameful.

Agreed. She has been a fine servant for her constituents and at least been consistent with her message.

It is badly needed. Political education in the Labour Party has been sadly neglected for almost 120 years.

The fact that they will soon elect Starmer as Leader proves my point.

Sounds great to me. People should learn how to avoid inheritance tax

As for Burgon.... Given how pointless the role is/weak the field is, I might consider voting for him for a laugh. After all, I'd love to hear the podcast he's proposing.

The fact they will soon elect Starmer proves what point? As a non-Labour party member or supporter, do you have a vested interest in keeping them in-electable?

No. Where did I say I wanted them to be unelectable.

My point was about the woeful level of political education in the Labour Party which you too appear to suffer badly from.

I like the idea of their being education camps set up to correct people's thinking. They just need an appropriate moto. What's the Latin for "putting people right on a few points they were unsure of"?

It's not about correcting people's thinking it's about improving their political knowledge in a Marxist way.

Activism isn't worth a sh*t if you spend all your time arguing with each other about obscure identity issues.

A summer school would be good, perhaps located in Cuba. In addition the local party meetings are a snorefest and need to be livened up with proper political debate.

Labour doesn't have the capacity to do it nor the will. There are too many who see it as their personal property and shudder at the thought of answering to an educated mass based party.

Latest poll has Keir a mile ahead.

The wait for a female leader goes on

Starmer: 53%
LRB: 31%
Nandy: 16%

Keir Starmer - The epitome of the Islington-set, metropolitan elite remainer. The members favourite.

Lisa Nandy - playing to the gallery a bit with identity politics (which, to be fair, she has to given the state of the membership), but the candidate with the most appeal to the voters Labour needs to attract/win back in order to win a general election. The members least favourite.

Nandy may still surprise people with second preference votes (it worked for Ed), but it's looking like Starmer is going to get the gig.
