We don't need a Dawson or Vincelot. We need a creative midfielder with an eye for goal to compliment what we have. If we are after Moncur he is a deadball specialist who can pass the ball...............something we haven't had for a few seasons.
You couldn’t of been a fan when they played.
Thanks for your comment - I have been been supporting the club since 1963. But a Dawson or Vincelot are not whats needed a Steve Castle type would be a closer comparison of what we require (remember him or before your time?)
Dawson and Vincelot both good players but we have a squad with an abundance of defensive midfield holding players and literally no box to box creative attacking players and thats what we need to address. Neither Dawson or Vincelot were attacking midfield players although tbf Romain chipped in with one or two. Both energetic ball winners which is really what Clay and Pratley do and to a far lesser extent Coleman and Brown.

Will we miss him next season ? No chance we finished mid table in league 2. We need Dawson/vincelot type midfielders to get us up.
Neither of those got us up !!
Peter Kitchen never got us up, but I would not mind his type here
I wonder how Kitch would get on in todays game? by far the best striker I have seen in an O's shirt But those were the days of 4-4-2 you could not imagine him playing as a lone striker.

Pratley and Clay are not holding defensive midfielders.
They play the engine role.
WTF is an engine role
We play 4-2-3-1 Pratley and Clay play the deeper roles. and allow the front four fairly free license to go forward. At times last season Pratley was alongside our back four (not so much under RW)
We have played a number of formations, of course, but 4-1-2-3 was the most commonly used.
Has someone got a link to the interview RW gave where he talks about how he wants to set our midfield up? It'll help explain things for those that missed it.

Think it was on either Orient Hour or Outlook podcast iirc
RW said he wanted to play Pratley further forward so the two I'd like to see come in would be
- competition / improvement on Clay for the ball winner
- creative & goalscoring type either complementing or competing with Pratley
That would then put Brown and Coleman into squad roles, which on basis of what we've seen so far would be about right if we want to be challenging the top 3
There's also the question of where Khan fits into all this. He hasn't really pinned down any particular role, be interesting where RW sees him in his plans.

Oh no i remember him well thanks, sorry are you ok or did you just compare clay and pratley to vincelot and Dawson ? Or for that matter brown and Coleman
Saying that you have supported them sinse 1963 so the senile comment makes sense now.

Again they failed to win promotion
Got us to a league 1 playoff final and one of the best seasons we have ever had if you remember, lot better than 13th in league 2.

Still failed though . A Championship LOFC may never have been sold to the Italian , we may never experienced T&T or JE & Elation & Grief . Still lets harp back to times we failed !

What the hell are you talking about we failed this season ?

Im just responding to your belief that failure is a good season . You need to ask yourself what you are talking about .

No my point is Dawson and vincelot are better than clay and pratley and getting to the play off final in league 1 is better than finishing 13th in league 2. It’s quite simple although you would argue if someone said it was Saturday tomorrow. Wally

Well if you make your point correctly then I wouldnt have to correct you. Its already Saturday in New Zealand , tomorrow is Sunday .
Didn’t think much of Abrahams. I did think Dalby was a prospect but that was different - he was 17 and played just half a dozen games. Kyp has a couple of seasons under his belt now.

Your poor family having to put up with you ( that’s if you have one)
