My millwall mate said he was completely pony and I barely remember him when he was here before but happy to give him a chance. We still need a ball winning Vincelot that drives the team forward.

What I find interesting about this signing is that it was largely based on the previous relationship between Wright and JE. It would seem that even with the loss of JE, Wright has still chosen to come. I'm wondering if this suggests that Wright was given some inkling of the future management set-up here post JE. Does it indicate some sort of 'internal continuity', I wonder?
I feel sure that Wright may have had second thoughts about coming if there was an indication that a new/outside manager would be taking over. After all, a new man might have had no use for him.
Maybe I'm over-thinking this but, I'm sure this may have occurred to others on this board.

You are overthinking.

It was a done deal before, it's the closest club to his home and plenty of his circle support the club.

Hi, Buddy,

please correct me if I'm wrong but, did Wright actually sign after JE's death?

No it was a done deal prior to his death according to reports.

Josh Wright was Justin's last signing.

Hi, Thor,

thanks for your answer.
The reason for my confusion is that Wright's signing has only been announced by the club in the last 24 hours. It doesn't actually say 'when' he signed.
I fully understand that the Club, JE and Wright were talking about a move and that one had probably been agreed 'in principle' prior to JE's death.

I was simply wondering if Wright had not actually signed before JE fell ill on the 3rd of June, what were the factors that might have persuaded to have joined regardless of the uncertainty about the future.
On the other hand, if Wright had signed before June 3rd, then he was committed anyway.

Hi, Lovejoy,

I note that the article that you've linked to is dated 14th June.
It also refers to the "last signing" made by Leyton Orient manager Justin Edinburgh before his death aged 49."

The quotes used are often inserted to indicate that the statement isn't literally true.

I'm not trying to be pedantic here; I'm genuinely curious to know 'when' Wright signed.

He said in his interview that he signed on the day Justin died

He said in the interview the deal was signed last Saturday, the day Justin passed.

He also said he nearly came back here in January. He was willing to drop from L1 to non League.

Think we need to erase our memory of him playing for a p*ss poor L1 team (us) in the 2014/15, We have just signed a guy, still in his twenties, who has played at L1/Championship level for nearly 90% of his career. In his final season at Gillingham, totally out of character, he was their top scorer. His last couple of seasons he's been a victim of the manager merry-go-round being signed by Phil Brown at Southend and obviously not fancied by Chris Powell followed by Michael Collins signing him for Bradford and after picking up an injury in September never really being used by either of Collins successors.

I can see him working well alongside Clay so welcome back Josh.

If as the general consensus appears to be , Justin knew what he was doing, perhaps we should just wait and see, and give the player the time to show his true abilities in the arena that now exists.

His interview is excellent. You cam see why he was captain elsewhere.

Agree. The guy portrays himself very well and very intelligently. Have to wonder if he will be Jobi’s understudy ready to take over his role in 12 months. Seems like good forward planning to me. His career is at a higher level and clearly he has achieved because he is good enough.

I never felt he was that poor before, but like many, playing under very difficult circumstances. Easy to see why Justin wanted him. Will be an asset to the squad for sure.

Hi, Buddy,

the answer that you gave was wrong.

It wasn't a 'done deal'. Wright signed on the day of JE's death - the 8th.
Prior to that date nothing was 'done'.
Deals are not 'done' until all of the required signatories have signed.

Some deals are 'done' but they cannot be announced as a new signing as their previous contract has not expired.
For example the contract and terms were probably agreed weeks ago so technically the deal is done but the new contract cant be signed until the previous one has expired.

In some cases players sign a pre contract which basically confirms that they will sign for a club on a set future date but in most cases a word and a handshake is enough.

I get that

I’m signing for Whipps X Rovers in Jan 2023

He seems like a great bloke from the interview too, so in that sense he could be a good addition to the dressing room.

From my memory he was pretty mediocre, loved a sideways pass, but he seems to have chnaged his game since then and like others have said he hasn't been able to settle. Think he could be good in League Two so best of luck to him.
